I have a Savage model 111 in .30-06 and I would like to re-barrel it .300 win mag. Can i buy a barrel for a model 110 and will I also have to buy a new bolt?
Thanks for any advice. I am new to this!

It is pretty easy. The most difficult part with be finding the magnum bolt head!

Thanks for the information! I appreciate it..My understanding is that the Savage 111 and the 110 are pretty much the same...will the bolt head and barrel from a 110 work on the 111?

As long as it is a long action and was of the similar year model. If you go way back you had a contol round feed bolt head (very uncomon lately) Short actions do not work on a long action. 110/111/112/114/116...it all works. There were some magazine changes in the mid 2000's but as far as bolts your good.

Control round feed bolt heads for a long action are pretty rare. They were only offered with the RUM's. If you find a bolt head that was for a 300win or 7RM, that would be 99% the correct one.

Thanks everyone for all your input...Does anyone know where I might find a .300 win mag barrel these days? Seems like a lot of places are out of stock these days...go figure..
