I am planning on using TPS rings and base on a vortex pst and was looking for feedback from people who used them. I already have done searches. I have also considered seekin rings but am having a hard time justifying the cost.

Have had no problems with TPS rings. I do like the "no gap on one side" setup. No feeler gauges needed to get the gaps even like on most rings.

I have a few sets of TPS steel 30mm and 34mm rings and have found them very satisfactory. I've switched scopes on one and they left no ring marks. The one caveat I would tell you is to don't buy them direct from TPS, buy them from Brownells or SWFA. Brownells and SWFA have very good customer service if you have any issues or need to return or exchange them, whereas TPS doesn't answer their phone or email, or return voicemail.

I've heard that several times, luckily I've never needed to contact them!

I had them on my 700 .300 rum rifle and they held up just fine. No ring marks left on the tube.

I was looking at swfa, saw their direct purchase price to be higher at TPS.

I have a couple of sets and they have been good rings for me. They have gotten some bad press here but so far, no problem for me. I like them.

TPS are shit and you couldn't pay me to run them. For every one here with "no problems" there is one with a bunch of problems. Customer Service? Forget about it, non existent. If you had really done your research you would have found a plethora of problems with them.

The main question you have to ask yourself is why settle for mediocre (at best) rings when there are SO MANY better options out there? Better rings, better customer service and better people who SUPPORT the industry, not just push their crap. Seekins, Badger, USO, ARC and many others. Can't justify the cost? Then you get what you pay for. When they shit the bed and you end up buying better in the long run, you can look in the mirror and admit you should have bought quality in the first place.

Care to tell us what specific problems you are talking about?

Rings breaking, unable to get in touch with anyone either via phone or email. Mismatched rings (meaning they look like they were made at different times), poor workmanship, etc. There should be ample posts here on the Hide with problems people have had. They have not been isolated my any stretch.

have a set that been fine, badger is my first choice, but tps will do, regarding some of the stuff that mike passed, in each of these threads you generally see around a 10 to 1 good to bad ratio, that some how translates into a 50 percent ration for some, do they some have issues sometimes, yes, but then again, S&B's have issues pop up some time,

Not quite. Just because everyone who has hashed through this same BS time and time again doesn't chime in every time doesn't mean it's an isolated incident. So trying to compare TPS ring (frequent) issues to the S&B (rare) issues is stupid. Shall we dig up the old threads that show it's more than a 10:1 ratio?

I've got the tps steel rings and base on my aac sd and have a pst mounted in them I'm quite satisfied with them fit and finish are great on mine.

Their early rings had a smaller crossbolt, and after using them for years I broke one while installing with a ratchet instead of a torque wrench- I try to use a torque wrench as I can be ham fisted. They promptly replaced them. The new set is still in use on a friends rifle.

I prefer Seekins now, but if you can't swing it TPS is a decent alternative IMO.

I've ran 3 sets in the past for 30mm tubes and never had an issue with any of them.

I did buy one set directly from TPS and the transaction went fine. I've never had to deal with a CS issue so, I can't help there.

My money will go to a company that supports the shooting sports and has excellent customer service. You will probably never need to call a manufacturer's CS for a problem, but if you do, having a helpful, friendly person answer the phone will be worth the extra $$ everytime.
