I just received my new Savage 10FCP 5R HS. It is threaded for a muzzle brake and am soliciting thoughts on a good muzzle brake for tactical shooting.
I now they are load that is not my concern.
I want to be able to see my shots on target 1st and recoil reduction 2nd.
I am leaning towards JP.
I would appreciate any input.
I do think that within the year I will probably get a suppressor and I know that will take care of all my concerns.

I would figure out supressor you want and get the muzzle break that it attaches to if your are going to go that route in a year anyways.

If I was going to get a suppressor in a year then I would just shoot the rifle it like it is for now and go with a direct thread suppressor in a year. I can't think of any time that I have ever needed to quickly detach a suppressor, even on the military side of the house. And I think that the general thought on here is that a direct thread is the best way to go.

+1 on this. I have a thunderbeast 30 BA brake on both rifles. I'm on month 7 on my can but once I get it all I have to do is screw it on!

Miller special made by us or the muscle break by jim see. We also have the tactical muscle which is a threaded clamp style muscle break.

+1 for the Benchmark Barrels tactical muscle break w/ clamp. It will do everything you want to do according to your list up top!!

I know this is somewhat off topic but has anyone tried AAC's brake that does have suppressor mounts on it?

If you are going to buy a suppressor that mounts on a brake go ahead and buy that brake. If you are going to buy a thread on get a R&D mrad brake. Easy to install and works.

I do not think the AAC brakes are as effective as the Surefires, they do work though. The most effective brake I have used is the JEC and I have used bunch of others in the past. Another option is the Badger Thruster, not fond of it for magnum cartidges but for 308w(class) it works quite well.

My recomendation would be the Surefire SFMB-762-5/8-24 as a drop in fit, you can time it with shims where as the JEC, Badger Thruster and the like should really be profiled and machine timed.

I agree that their not quite as effective as surefire brakes I have a few of each. SF brakes I use only on my gas guns but yes they are realy effective and they make any gun look cool too!
