I have had Trijicon ACOG ,IOR,USO and Leupold Mark 4's......I bought this scope blindly , meaning I have never seen one in person .I Read countless threads reviews etc...after pulling this out of the box I was like WOW this thing is BUILT the knobs have solid audible clicks the finish is great the glass while not IOR good it is far better than the Mark 4 ....this scope is not for the whimpy if your looking for a light weight hunting scope this is not it .I will be mouting this tonight and if all goes well I will follow up with a range report by the end of the week one last thing I would like to mention the packaging is awesome a instruction cd ,reticle guide and how to use .cleaning cloth stickers ,bikini style lens cover etc. .OK there is one thing that did come as a disappointment MADE IN JAPAN....well that isn't a deal breaker but somewhat disappointing....stay tuned for a range report

They make some fine glass and scopes in Japan, unlike crap made in China. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!!!

It may say Made in Japan, but I have seen first hand what NF does to every scope before they're called a Nightforce up in Idaho. Some models are completely made here, others are mostly done here and some are final assembled here. Every scope is QC'd here before it goes out.

Made in Japan should not disappoint you as far as quality. Sometimes their quality is superior to others. For example the best Toyotas are made in Japan. I know three Toyota master mechanics and they have all stated that the best Toyotas are made in Japan. The difference is not huge but it is there. You bought a great scope.

I have 2 Tasco 3-9x32 scopes that I have had since the late 70's that wre made in Japan. The glass and resolution are excellent. One is currently on Ruger #1 in 45/70 the other was on another Ruger #1 in 458 Winchester. I have never had a single problem with either. So the made in Japan nightforce scopes that I own (4) bothers me not at all. Buy the way you will really like the MOAR reticle.

I've got the MOAR reticle in a 5.5-22 NF sitting on my 338 ready for some long range shooting as soon as this bloody snow melts enough to get onto my range.

It's made in Japan also, however I really like the scope so fat. Can't tell any difference in clarity and function from my other NF scopes that are made in the USA.

I'm sure it'll work well in it's designated role.
