Can't locate a 700-5R 308, other 700 options?

Does the 5R make that much difference over their 24" heavy barrel 24" .308 brothers?

Just in the twist rate...the 5R is 11.25 and most of the rest are 12. I'd rather have the 11.25 over the 12 in a 308 unless you are shooting the lighter bullets or are shooting at higher elevations.

Call Eagle Guns in Concord NC. I was there last week and they had one on the shelf. They almost always have at least one on the shelf and I got a good deal on mine so it's worth a try. (704) 788-9013

I love mine. A couple friends have SPS tactical's, and one has a 700P. Everything about the 5r looks and feels nicer than those rifles but it is a more expensive rifle so it should be nicer. The action is smoother and the fit and finish seems much nicer. I haven't sat down behind all of them to compare but I've made some nice dime size groups with mine with factory match ammo.

What MOA will the 5R 24" shoot at say 600-800 yards with good hand loads?

did you check Mile High Shooting?, I swear that they had one a few days ago, but I have slept since then so I might be lying to you. They have awesome customer service also by the way.

I've seriously looking at a Savage fcp10-k that my lgs has for $800 out the door.

If you don't mind paying shipping Clyde's Armory just north of Atlanta Ga. has at least 20 in stock in a number of different configurations.

Call Mile High Shooting. I was just there and they have 3-4 700 5R's on the shelf. 1-877-871-9990. I bought 3 5R's in .308 for my sons and everyone of them shoots 1/2"-3/8" with Federal Match ammo.

We have the .223 and .300 WM versions. We also have some 700P and LTRs in .308 along with a lead on a different 5R rifle (fluted, blackened and different stock).

But unfortunately we don't have any .308 5Rs and Acusport isn't being too open on when they plan to get some more.

That's all I'm seeing lately for sale everywhere, the .223 and .300 WM. Please post details on the new .308 5R when you know something, I'm looking for one myself and that sounds like a nice option.
