Gunsmithing looking for some ideas

To start off, i've become a sucker for .30 cals..with that being said. Sitting in the gun cabinet I have a remington model 700 .243. My dad had bought it a long time ago (at a K-mart for $85) brand new. I was thinking of eventually doing a project rifle with this using the action. What calibers would I be able to make using the action from this gun?

Far far too many to list, any short action caliber you want. 473 bolt face with your bolt, or any bolt face with a ptg or replacement bolt

so basically, my options of calibers to build are almost endless using just this action?

I'm new to this gun stuff, could you explain to me what it means when you say bolt face and ptg?

You are limited by the action length, but you can make a 7mm-08, 308, 260, and many others.

Now before that, are the serial numbers between 168,179 -- 322,769. If so you might have a little gem there, as those actions are highly sought after for M40 builds. M40 USMC Vietnam era reproduction that is.
