I read a post on here talking about Bushnell coming out with an illuminated reticle on the DMR; not sure how accurate that is. Just looking to see if there's any more info out there. Is illumination coming for the DMR, ERS or XRS? Which reticles? How long?

I might email my mil-sales contact and press him for info; not sure how much he'll give me though.

I've heard yes... then no... then yes... and on and on. At this point I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it happens because I need a new scope and illumination is a feature that I want.

I'd like to have it, but it's not a must have. I'm just trying to figure out if it's the kind of thing where- wait for a couple months and it will be available... or "some point in the future"... or never. I can wait a couple months or so... I'm not waiting indefinitely.

Okay, I contacted the Mil-Sales rep- he said they are NOT working or planning on working on illumination for any of their long range scopes.

I spoke to a Bushnell rep and he said the illumination model is currently being tested and is due to be released ONLY to LE/Military in the next few months. He said it will be about 8 months or so before it will be available for us shmucks.

I asked him specifically when the 3.5-21X50 DMR G2 would have illumination, so I assume it will probably be for all but the "busiest" of reticles (Horus). They will probably have it out around Christmas but that's just a hunch after talking to the guy. He definitely was in the know, and didn't just spit out his own opinion.

I thought I replied to this...

Anyway, strage we're getting two different answers. I would think the mil-sales rep would know if this is due out... to be sold to... mil and LE. I even gave him a sort of "out" by saying "if you can't comment on anything specifically, can you tell me if product improvements are being worked on that may be worth waiting for?" Answer was no illumination, not even on the drawing board, no pending product improvements.

Just curious, where did you talk to your guy? Just trying to get a feel for how in the know he really is. Did you speak to him when calling bushnell? Or meet him elsewhere?

When you say Christmas, you're talking about for civilian sales right? Did this guy give any mention of when specifically they are supposedly to be available?

And this would be why I said I'll believe it when I see it..... seems like the folks at Bushnell are either running a disinformation campaign or they just don't talk to each other lol

I called Bushnell with the sole purpose of finding out when an illuminated version of the DMR 3.5-21 would be available.

I don't see how Bushnell would not continue R&D since demand for more features are high both in LE/Mil and civilian markets. I am only guessing that it might be out late this year based on his comments of successful R&D/Field Testing is going on currently with the illumination(not sure which reticle(s).

Since the HDMR originally came out, they knew people wanted features like zero stops and 10 mil revolution turrets so they did it. From a marketing standpoint(see Apple) it just makes sense to continue to roll out new features on the same products to keep sales and interest high. Next on the list is illumination, just a question of will it be available to us(civilians) this year and not next.

Illumination is about the only thing missing from this scope. They don't even have to illuminate the entire reticule, which would be hell on the battery life. Just illuminate 1 mil up, 3 down and 1 left and right would be perfect I think. Not too much but still enough to get some barrings on target in low/very low light.

Hmmm. There's deff something strange going on.

Hmm, maybe if Bushnell tells everyone their due to come out with an illuminated reticle it would hurt sales of their brand new scopes that were just unveiled... So who knows if you'll ever get a straight answer. Illuminated reticles for me are like cup holders in a car, I never use them, but people insist they're a must. While I'm sure there are people that actually use the illumination and need it the majority of us don't, but something tells me those are the people that want it the most.

Have to have it, need it, want it, but why? I don't know because that's what a super cool tactical scope should have!

5mil to 10mli = $500 I just don't see it
Illuminated reticles = $????
now you got over priced scope

Exactly then you'll get those people that will complain it's too expensive for a Bushnell, the same people that cried they wanted the illuminated reticle. The original HDMR does the trick for me and I paid right around $1k, no complaints at all.
