Had a patch stuck in a 6mm bore. I thought I would never get the cleaning rod out. With a flashlight, I could see the patch was wedged hard in the rifling. Surprisingly, I had an idea that worked: I loaded a primed case ( no powder nor projectile) and touched it off. Patch came out like a champ.

I post this because a while back someone had the same problem. I do not recall the fix, but here is mine for reference.

You can heat the barrel up and burn the patch out as a worst case scenario. Bore snakes are notorious for getting stuck and we have had to resort to this method.

How would you suggest doing this? I currently have a boresnake stuck in a 20in barreled 308. The smith that built it suggested I heat the stripped barreled action to heat up the snake/patch to get it more pliable. How hot can you take it to accomplish this?
