Guys, I am ordering .260 and .243 dies, and rather than make 2 separate orders, want to order my bushings with the seater dies (along of course with the neck size dies). I will be using Lapua brass (once it arrives) and would like to know what size bushings you use for Lapua brass - so I have somewhere to start.

I know I can measure a loaded cartridge (which I don't have right now) - or measure the bullet diameter - then subtract the neck wall thickness x2 - but I only at this point have the bullets.

So, just looking for a place to start.

For the .260R, I think guys are running the .291" bushing with Lapua brand brass. I ran the .290" TiNi bushing with RP brass and had a .289" bushing waiting in the wings, but never used it. If you have some cash, you might get both, for a little bit of wiggle room.

Can't help you on the .243W.

actually guess I should have searched better first. I see folks in some of the other threads are running .292 for Lapua .260 brass - so I think thats where I will start. I was planning on buying a smaller size as well, just in case - but likely will do 292 + 291 and see how it works out. Thanks for the heads up though.

Usually .270 or .271 works for .243, but I use rem or win brass. Anybody else using lapua?

For my 6.5 CM dies which is the same diameter as a 260, I use .288 thru .290 bushings. It all depends on the neck thickness of the brass and what the desired neck tension you are trying to achieve. Try not to resize the neck more that .005 at one time because it has a tendency to increase neck runout. If your fired case neck dimension is greater than .005 than you dimension you plan to size to probably best advised to acquire an additional bushing to size in steps. I learned this the hard way.

Holy crap those bushings are $25 a piece on midway.... any cheaper place to get em? I need bushings for 260 and 338 lapua

I was trying to find bushings on Grafs website. Do any of you know where they have neck sizing bushings listed?

+1 Good stuff here. I use a bushing neck die for the first .003 reduction, and a FLS bushing die for the final .004 on my 7-08. Fired case is .315 and I need to get back to .308. German Salazaar (sp?) has some good info on runout and neck dies. Good luck.

Go on their main page to: "Metallic Reloading" click on it and go to "Rifle dies" click on it which opens to "Rifle Dies- Categories" You will see a category for "Die Bushings". They're all there.

Seriously though, this took me seconds to do this on their site and I've never looked for them before your inquiry.

    You're welcome.
