Do you guys do any "tactical" type long range shoots up there at Oak Ridge? Also, do you do any shorter ranged rifle competitions? id love to come and try one. I'm considering getting a membership next year!

The Long-Range F-Class State Championship for Tennessee will take place in Tullahoma, TN (AEDC) over Labor Day weekend. The LR State Championship match at Oak Ridge is for traditional Sling/Prone, but also welcomes F-Class shooters. We need to be very clear about this distinction:

There are links in the original post for the 600 yard matches. We also have a very active CMP/Service rifle group. The AMU usually shows up for at least the Big Ed's match. Usually I think they make a couple of trips to play here. I'm planning to get into service rifle this yr, I hope. I still need a trigger, and I missed the CMP games yesterday.

ORSA does not do any "tactical" matches. There is an action pistol range where the USPSA, IDPA and Cowboy shooters shoot but other than their matches there is no steel on the club. It is all round targets on rectangular fields. It is however one of the nicest shooting facilities in the US and the membership is only $120/yr.

I am now officially a member at oak ridge. Do you ever go to the practices on Monday? Hopefully, I will see you up there one day and you can teach me how to shoot.

I really need to get to the practices this year. I've set up a BB for people to coordinate practice schedules and matches at OakRidgeShooting.com It's just a little freeware BB that I tossed up.

It's not very active but I just put it up last week. I think it's much easier than trying to coordinate with 5 or 6 people in a replay all email cluster.

In any case, I'm out of town for another 2 weeks. I've got a brand new rifle with a new barrel and the rifle I shot last yr has a new chamber so I need range time really badly. I had completely unacceptable vertical from my bullets in the match a couple of weeks ago so I have a lot of work to do. I'll definitely be there for practice when I get back in town.
