The Sako 300wm bit me!
I let my support hand creep forward underneath the palm swell.

I've had that happen to me, too! It smarts. Looks like it got ya good, hope it not as bad as it looks. Lightman

I'm not clear what happened. Did recoil squeeze your hand between the bottom of the grip and the ground/bench?

Ouch. That's a bad one. Just how was the hand positioned, so I don't do the same?

Broke my left thumb right before shipping out for the desert and the bruising spread out like that. I duct taped it to my hand and called it good. I think you should probably follow a different plan since it still bothers me from time to time. I thought duct tape could fix anything. Maybe there is something to medical school after all.

See a Doc. If you don't have insurance urgent care places will see you for about $100. Too many little bones and tendons in a hand to screw around.

And you have "bronzer"? Some things you need to keep private!

I was shooting 200gr safari rounds and I could not get comfortable on the rifle that day so I used my back support hand to apply a bit of upward pressure to the bottom of the stock right behind the bottom of the palm swell, between the wood bench and the stock. Remembering to use padded gloves = priceless.
I can move all my fingers with no pain but any type of touch to the back of my hand is"quite" uncomfortable. I am taking a little break and using the down time to glass bed and paint up the rifle.

That looks like it sucked. I got scope bite when I was inexperienced shooting a measly .308. That's about my only shooting related injury.
