I was wondering if there is a place I can go to shoot a mile that is within a reasonable driving range from Connecticut. I have no place in this state that I can shoot that far that I know of but I really want to try it out. Any ideas?

Yeah, you've got to start looking west of the Mississippi.

A few spots in va and w va...but you need to know people.

Iirc thunder valley in ohio will get you to one mile. Otherwise the only spots around the east are private and anybody who has access to them is going to keep it to themself and sure as heck are not going to disclose such info to strangers via an online forum.

LOL I am sure the governor would outlaw it if there was.

There is a place in Ledyard that goes out to 400. They say that's the longest for a few hundred miles. CT (and the northeast in general) is more about skeet shooting than long range rifle. I think the nearest 1000 yd range is in PA.

Hampden, ME. 600 Yards
Scarborough, ME. 600 Yards
Nashua, NH. 600 Yards
EAFR - Jericho, VT. 600 Yards
Reading, MA. 600 Yards
Colonie, NY. 1000 Yards
Camp Smith - Peekskill, NY. 600 Yards
Millville, NJ. 600 Yards
New Holland, PA. 600 Yards
Bridgeville, DE. 600 Yards
FT. Meade, MD. 600 Yards

I just sent an email to colonie gun club asking about the use of their range and there high power comps. I'll let you know what I find out.

Does anyone know the deal with the 600yd range at Camp Smith in Peekskill, NY? I couldn't find contact info on their site, and the range use is listed as open to some 'civilian organizations.' Not sure what that means, but I'm guessing it's not easy to get access to the grounds.
