Rifle Scopes Nightforce ATACR 5-25x In Hand

OK I'll be the only one, I like the ATACR in SFP. Lot's of people may want one in FFP but I wonder how many would buy it at the increased cost. Not sure I would spend another $500 for the scope. $2300 is my upper limit on a scope.
Make it in FFP at the same price point and I'd buy it, yes no soubt! Alas, the regular "old skool" NXS F1 is the same cost as the ATACR which leads me to believe the ATACR would be close to the BEAST cost in FFP form. Sure other make FFP scopes in the $700 dollar range. That means diddly.
For what it is at it's price point with features and quality I find the ATACR to be very competitive. I would have bought a better scope at that price point if I could have found one that was emperically better. Not sure the ATACR in FFP would fare the same in terms of a value proposition.
I read and hear a lot of people claiming they would buy it if it were FFP, I suspect they mean philisophically they would, whether they would actually spend 3K for it is another story. Simpsons had a show about this with a car called the Homer that had everything everyone wated but no one wanted to "actually" buy it. I am fairly certian NF has taken all this into account. I could totally be wrong I stipulate that.

It uses ED glass in the prescription. Not advertised as HD. But I have used the comparison that it is like comparing televisions as to how good the image is.
NXS is more like standard definition TV while the ATACR is like watching HD television.
Ahh ok, it is not clinically "HD" then. Thanks for clarification. Image is great regardless. Bloody excellent infact.

I may be in the minority here but honestly, I really can’t get excited for a 5-22/5-25 FFP ATACR or NSX. Let me preface that by saying that although my 5 previous NF’s have been great. Looking at the current NF’s pricing structure, Its going to approach 3 grand. And at that point, I just don’t think that its going to be worth it?
I get that number based on the current pricing on the ATACR,(2300) plus roughly the 600 more an F1 goes for over a standard NSX 3-15. An FFP NSX or ATACR is going to be a 3000 dollar scope and at that point, there are a lot of appealing options out there
There are some great scopes out there in this class,
The Bushnell 3-21 elite tactical, the Vortex razor, the Leupold er/t m5a2, the Leupold mk6,and the swfa SS 5-20 are all great scopes,
I don’t want come across as hating on NF, as they have done a tremendous amount for the shooting community as well as revolutionized the tactical scope market. I just think that right now, there are a lot of incredible options out there, and its going to be very difficult for at least myself, to chose a NF over any of those scopes considering the heavy premium they are now commanding.
at that point, i will save up the extra 500 dollars or so and get a fully option scope like the BREAST or Mk8, or a S&B

IMO, if NF came out with a "FFP ATACR" it would be a BEAST with the simpler ATACR turret design. A "FFP ATACR" would be a new optical-mechanical design, not a simple tweak on the existing SFP ATACR, so it would be simpler to start with the proven BEAST design and reduce the features and cost. While some want a "FFP ATACR", it would likely be hundred$ more than the current FFP F1 or SFP ATACR. Is NF willing to take a risk that all three designs would be market successes, after investing in their design and tooling? The smart decision would be to wait and see how well the ATACR and BEAST sell; if the current ATACR is a sales dud, then a "FFP ATACR" might be the next step, followed by dropping the SFP ATACR from the production lineup.
regardless if you bring up a ATACR to ffp or bring down a BEAST to standard turrets, the end result is same end result of a 3000 dolar scope.for at that point ill whats another 500 dollars for a full optioned scope
Well, I bought an ATACR in SFP from Jay and Chris at SportOptics and I must say sometimes you just have to "settle" for a Porsche 911.

Some shooters never seem to be satisfied. There are scores of options out there already. This scope fit my shooting, my budget and my choice of vendor. I just hope the scope industry does not phase out SFP reticles; I find FFP rather annoying and distracting.

My 2 cents, I don't really understand why it wasn't a FFP in the first place, it's a tactical scope. I want to be able to use the reticle effectively in a tactical scope on all mag settings please. I don't consider that it would be reasonable for it to cost an extra 6-700 dollars for a feature that should have been standard in the first place. If it was FFP with the Horus reticle options in my opinion it would the best NF ever and what I’ve been looking for from NF for years. That scope at the same/similar price point with NF quality would be real competition. Not a fan of the whole lever idea on the BEAST, seems fiddly. Leave the SFP for you target scopes and give the people what they want

The Beast is just too much. It looks futuristic as well and has some features that I don't care for... I Like the ATACR package.
For a $2500 ish scope in FFP would be a sweet scope!
I said the same thing. A FFP ATACR priced in the $2500-$2800 range would all but dominate the FFP market for optics but until that happens, I'll settle for my SFP ATACR.
