I am about done with both projects not and thought that I would share some quick shots.

The 40A1 is “more correct” than the 40. The M40a1 clone is the correct serial number range, GAP clip slotted, all the correct stampings, USO mount & MST-100. I has a Apr ’77 MRT sling and the older trigger with the tall safety.

The M40 is not close but is what it is… A 1980’s PSS in a wood stock that I found on ebay. Redfield 1” tube (non-accurange) Redfield 1-64 rings. 40x Sling swivels with a July 1964 MRT sling.
I have a Leupold USMC M40 Rifle Green scope that I may add to the m40 clone or I may save it for my woodland return build if I cannot find a MST-100.

Re: M40 & 40A1 clones

Recreating a tested classic never looked so good. Good job!

Re: M40 & 40A1 clones

always a classic that you never get tired of seeing.

What can I say that hasn't already been said above......

Makes me want to get the multicam dip off the McM on my GAP M40A1 "tribute"

Re: M40 & 40A1 clones

+1 Basraboy,
I can't help but drool over that beautiful m40.
Black steel and oiled walnut, it doesn't get much better than that.

Now go out and shoot those rifles!
And let us how they perform.

What the hell... a post about my favorite rifle of all time and no pictures are displaying for me :(

Well, the fact that the person who posted before you bumped this thread after more than two years of inactivity...the links to whatever pictures may have existed here are long dead, as this thread was.
