I've read other posts about the new line of Zeiss scopes meant to replace the current Conquest line, but the new scopes don't have many options of Rapid-Z reticles.

I have a 4.5-14x44 with a Rapid-Z 1000 reticle and I was looking at getting the 6.5-25x50 because 14x at 500+ yards is small for target shooting. I was somewhat surprised they don't make that scope anymore, but no options for a Rapid-Z 1000 reticle seems like a weird move. Has anyone heard about what Zeiss plans to do with longer range Rapid-Z reticles?

I have the new Zeiss Conquest HD5 5-25x52 with the Rapid Z-Varmint reticle and there is nothing to complain about. Really nice for target shooting atop my .223.

You are aware that the Rapid Z 1000 is strictly dedicated to the .308 caliber family? The Z-Varmint is for the .223 and 22.250 types.

What are you shooting? The new HD5 series also includes the Z 600 and Z 800 for other calibers.

They still offer the z1000 in the HD5 line up in a 5-25, they redesigned it for 2013. I had a 4.5-14 rapid z1000 on a 308 and it was to busy for me and I have a Horus reticle too.

Yeah, I like the reticle but 14x is short for target shooting. Overall, I think it would be better on strictly hunting rifle. Thanks for the info!
