gold medal die

It's actually a quality piece, I have two.
When setting it up, try to get the seating stem up in the die as far as possible, you can wigggle it with your finger, so it would be most stable higher, rather than hanging low. Read the directions, you can move it by relocating the e-clip on it.
In my 7mm saum, I actually had better runout numbers using this die, and a Redding T-7, than what I get with a Redding comp seater, and a Forster Coax.

If you are talking about the black seater with a cutout in the side, I have several. I find them much easier to use for flat base bullets and small ones like 17 cal. You can change out the sliding sleeve to seat other calibers.

Do you change the seating stem also?

The die said it is for 338 lapua can it be used for other calibers

The die says .338 Lapua on the bottom sleeve, and box. But the die body is kind of a one size fits all, replace the the sleeve, and seater stem and you most likley could convert it to some others.
