This is actually my deer hunting load development, but it also turned into my plinking target fun when not using amax bullets!. I never would've figured. I have ran about 300plus of these bullets thru my LMT so I have a really solid idea on what it can do and wouldn't post this unless I was having good luck with it. I almost hate to share this little secret of mine as bullets are already hard to get. Don't get me wrong, it is no amax. I've been able to purchase some hornady interlock 165gr softpoint boat-tail (make sure they are BT's as they make a non-boat tail version also... make sure they are boat tail for the love of god, LOL!!) for $24.99 dollars per 100 @ my local dealer... REALLY good results so far, like damn near match / amax results. I liked the results so much and was saving so much money that I purchased 6 boxes per 100 of the stuff and stopped buying match grade, LOL!!!. I still cant give up my amax's tho, Hehehe. This load is not amax, but damn near. Here is my loading results w/pics with my LMT MWS:

    - very very light kiss of a crimp, damn near nothing
    - ogive seating depth ~ 2.190 (verify ogive seat depth with your rifle!! all rifles are different)
    - my finished cartridge coal ~ 2.75 with the above ogive seating depth
    - once fired lake city brass nato 7.62x51 trimmed to about 2.007", can usually find online for about .22 per pc of brass shipped
    - hornady interlock 165gr soft point boat tail, $25 per 100 = .25 per bullet
    - cci#200 large rifle primer $30 per 1000pc brick, .03 per pc
    - (always verify your own load development!) 43gr varget, (getting $22 per lb right now by purchase 8lb bucket). 7000gr per lb / 43gr is 162loads per lbs. $22per lb / 162 = about ~ .14 per drop

    - finished product per cartridge with purchased LC brass listed = .64cents per, or $12.80 per 20box comparison
    - finished product if you already have the brass = .42cents per, or $8.40 per 20box comparison

The bullets used. Also, note the Velcro brass deflector protector. A MUST for reloading!

5shot groups @ 100yards done last week. Not too bad for cheap bullets I would say:

I'll definitely check those out. I'm still waiting on my MWS (ordered 11/8 from LMT) to show. Hopefully I'll be loading and shooting for it soon.

wow, I hope you get it soon! you're going to love the rifle, but I wouldn't hold your breath ordering direct from LMT.

Great shooting! What's the velocity that you are getting out of this load?

I can't wait to work some of these up!

    Hey Elf,
Nice research. Its always good to find a good 308 alternative load.
Oh, and I also have a fuzzy brass deflector too.....lol
