Today was awesome! First time ever shooting past the 200 yd mark that my local range offers. Shot between 550 and 600 yards. Unfortunately I haven't invested in a steel target yet, so milk jugs had to work for today. Rifle is a 700 sps-aac with SS 5-20.

Took 17 shots at this distance (about 600yd if my estimations were correct). Only had 3 hits. Blaming it half on the wind and half on how excited I was haha. Winds were 9-12 mph. Can't wait to get back out there and hopefully have some steel to bang next time.

Good day fellas.

Congrats - You're now addicted. Welcome to distance shooters anonymous.... ;)

Nothing better than seeing someone connect with a distant target and crack a big smile.

im still in the process of building my rifle.. got the rifle, stock, new trigger, now i just need a scope and bipod... cant wait to get some lead downrange.. it sucks bad waiting!!!

How concerned should we be that one of the pictures shows your rifle pointed at a house a few hundred yards away?

We're not going to be seeing you on the 6 o'clock news, are we?

^^^not for hitting the target, at least ;)

In all seriousness, welcome to the club.

I hope it's a barn :D

there's this free application on iphone and android phone called STRELOK. It's a ballistics calculator that gets you very close to the target. Quite a neat tool to have for long range shooting... Congrats!!!

PS
Im jealous you get to lay down on grass, all these sand we got here in Vegas is getting old!!! It gets to everything!!!

I remember when I first shot out past 200 the first time. Was at a 600 yd match and I just about shit myself when I hit paper on my first shot. Ended up with a 537 5x and came in 7th of 11 in my division. Not too bad but lot's of work to be done.
