I run the Hornady 208 A-max / 208 Match / and Berger 210 Hunting VLD's almost exclusively with H1000. Just wanted to try something new and see if anyone else had tried these 225's out. Any input and opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

Not yet, but I have 100 to try out. I normally run the 208s with 76.8gr of H1000 for about 2850fps. I was thinking of about 75gr to start. I just have to wonder if my 10" twist will cut it or if they need 9"

That's what I'm curious about too. I've got a Surgeon Scalpel 26" 10" twist with a FTE brake, loves the 208 a-max and 210 Bergs.

I'm anxious to know how the 225 fly as well. Since they're at the upper limit of weight and SD for caliber I'm sure wantin' to know how fast they fly and some long range performance empirical data when available.

Sorry but the heaviest I'm shooting is an old box of Honady 190gr BTHP which shoot great over 70gr of IMR4350 and traps me 2,920 +/- fps through a trap at 15' out. This is from a 24" Winchester barrel on my pre-64 custom. The barrel is a custom installation and I don't know who from. It's a hunting rig but performs well out to the 300 yards our range provides. I've got this nice new 26" SPS SS that I'm waiting for the range to dry out to shoot.

I've ran a few 225's from my 24" 10 twist 300 wsm. They clocked about 2750 and shot around 3/4 moa. This was from my 7# hunting weight rifle without a brake. It could probably do better given that the gun shoots several bullets under 1/2 moa. Lately I've been running the 208 Amax and getting groups in the .3's. It's a #4 fluted brux installed on a predator action by RW Snyder and bedded in an Alaskan Ti stock by me.

Thanks for the input. I was going to pick up a box of them to try out today, but decided to hold off until I do some more research.

Thanks again for your input.
