OK - so it's not a rifle, but it is bolt action so close enough. I'm finally getting around to getting this Striker project going. Got a stock Savage Striker chambered in .260 Rem and a Bartlien 6.5mm 1 in 8 5r blank. Gonna have it chambered for .260 Rem but I'm undecided as to where to cut the barrel. Stock bbl is 14", was thinking of 16". Realistically, I won't be shooting much beyond 600 yards. Or maybe 700. Keep in mind I'm going to be running this rig suppressed and I don't want to go too long with a handgun barrel.

IHMSA had a limit of 15" for their unlimited class pistols and we stuck with that for a number of years. The last two I put together I went with a 16" but consider that the outside limit on what I'd even consider being a pistol and that is stretching it. If you haven't discovered it yet there is a site that caters to the LR pistols shooters called Specialty Pistol ( Specialty Pistols Forums ). Anything you'll ever want to know is talked about there. I've posted some threads here and other sites with links to videos and discussions about our LR pistols.

Good luck with your build, they are sure fun and amaze nearly everyone that sees them shoot. Below my name is a couple links to videos on YouTube along with others we've done. I just finished a Savage Target Action LR pistol in 6XC and a XP-100 in 260 with the Rem-Age barrel setup ( Login To: Specialty Pistols ).

There are threads on Specialty Pistol Login To: Specialty Pistols and Savage Forum if you don't wish to join SP Savage 6XC, first real range time to test it out. about the Savage LR pistol build and testing with videos of it shooting and groups.

Both are great sites with lots of ideas and people to help you with putting your Striker together.

Good Luck

Top - thanks for the link. I've done a bit of research, but I haven't heard of that forum. I'm stoked to get this rig up and running. I cleaned up the trigger last summer and it's fun like it is, but a rifle scope, Bartlien bbl and suppressor should be pretty mind-blowing.
