New Die question

I have gotten several news dies lately and it seems the first couple through the neck/deprimer die always seem to stick or have issues pulling out the de-primer part on exit .

I clean them real well with Hornady 1 shot and also put a little case lube on the sinker die looking thing but each new one seems to have the same effect a few times.

Should i use a little sandpaper on it to smooth it out or any other good ideas?

I guess that you are calling the expander ball the sinker die thing? I usually polish it with some 1200 grit sand paper and 4/0 steel wool. I'll spin it in a cordless drill. Don't worry about removing too much material, it would take forever with paper that fine! I usually lube the inside of my case neck, too. You can usually get good results by lubing 1 out of every 3 to 5 cases. Lightman

If it's hard to pull out then you have insufficient lube for the expander ball.

On cases where I am Full Length sizing and using the expander ball, I either line the cases up in a loading block and spray with Hornady One-Shot case lube or I lube the inside of the case neck with a q-tip I have rubbed some Hornady Unique into the cotton tip.

When spraying the case lube I hold the spray bottle (or aerosol can) so I can spray down on the cases at about a 45 degree angle. One quick spray the full length of the block on one side, reverse the block and then repeat from the other side. This spray angle lets some of the spray reach the inside of the case neck and by spraying from the two angles I get a more even distribution both outside and inside.

I find that the Hornady One-Shot case lube dries nicely and doesn't harm the powder when the case is loaded.

You can either use Imperial dry neck lube (graphite), or if you are using imperial sizing wax, you can also run your finger across every 3rd or 4th case mouth (assuming you are applying the lube with your hands, as you should).

The scraping of your finger will leave just enough lube inside the case mouth that it prevents this problem.

YMMV.
