So, my daughter is getting into the long(ER) range practical tactical shoots like I do. I have started her off with a savage Mark II TR that I used an older savage stock significantly shortened up for. She is dead on up to 75 yards and pretty dang good at 100 with that thing.

She is 11 yo and barely 75 pounds, I am building up a .223 practical tactical savage bolt rifle for her, but am having a hard time figuring out a stock for her. The length of pull is not hard, just chop it down, the problem arises with the vertical hand grip. How do I fix this for her small hands and trigger finger reach?

Just spit balling an idea out.
If its a fiberglass type stock or wood. You could build the grip up with fiberglass to shorten the trigger reach and trim it down narrower to fit her hand. Then smooth it out with bondo. Watch a couple fiber glass how to vids on YouTube and any auto parts store should have the supplies.
Hope I have this problem when my daughter gets a little older :)

Have you looked into a youth model stock for her? I'm not sure if they're any different besides LOP but I would imagine the rest gets shrunk down at least a little bit. If not, I've seen folks use just about anything that will stick/bond to whatever your stock happens to be constructed of. It may not be pretty, but it's quick, dirty, cheap and you can always spray it to match. For something less permanent, a piece of mouse pad and duct tape will allow you to build up the grip and you can remove it once she grows into it instead of restocking again.

Couple thoughts. I made a aics chassis for my savage mk2 22, no reason you couldn't do the same for the 223 and set the action back a little to make trigger reach less.

Or buy a boydd ss evolution stock as they have a small grip. Get a ally bedding block fitted to suit your 223 and dbm kit of your choice.

What model savage you thinking? I also converted a savage 10 choate sniper for my axis and fitted the legacy sports howa dbm kit to it for mag feed. Now I wouldn't recommend this stock for small hands just as an example of what's possible with a little planning.

Ok, I have the same question as I am currently building a comp gun for my wife to shoot. I had not seen or heard of the RAT grips, but that seems like a really awesome concept. I dont think the rifle will be winning any beauty pageants with those things, but for a practical rifle they seem to be just that... Practical.

It's going on a Stevens 200 action and a chopped down varmint contour barrel to about 18". In comps she will be doing the 'closer' ranges 4-500 so I'm not worried about the velocity loss, I'm more worried about her being able to manage the rifle and I don't want it longer than she is tall! :). When I need to its easy enough to screw on another barrel.
