For those if you running the stock Savage buttstock in a 10 series ( fcp10-k) rifle? I plan on running a 50mm objective.

Its going to depend on the base you are using. I have two savages with low rings (my preference for cheek weld). One is the 10 PC with an swfa ss10x42 and burris xtr low rings, the other started life as a model 16, but now has a shillen varmint 308 barrel. It wears an swfa ss 5-20x50 in tps low rings. Each rifle has an EGW 20 MOA base (thick). The 10 PC has about 3/8" of clearance between the scope and barrel. The model "16" has about 3/16" of clearance. Low rings work for me in most configurations, but I only have one 50 mm scope, everything else I have is smaller. Hope this helps in some way.

I used 50mm lens with burris medium xtr rings on my savage 308. Lows would fit as stated but if you ever plan on a bull barrel it could be snug.

On my Savage 10PC - .308, I'm running a 20 MOA Seekins base, Aadmount 30mm low rings, SWFA SS 5-20x50 scope and still have 1/8" gap between scope and barrel...... Plenty of room for set of cheap piece of shit Butler Creek caps that break.

Keep in mind that one companies "low" rings may differ in height compared to the next brand. Most companies list their ring heights, so do your homework.

Knowing which scope, base and brand/model of rings you want to run is pretty much crucial.

I run a Vortex Razor with the 1" high rings on my 10 BA and it clears easy.

"ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ"

With my EGW 20MOA HD base, I use Burris XTR Lows with my Vortex PST 6-24x50 and a Butler Creek cap clears by a couple of millimeters. I have a Savage 10FP 308.

I'm going to run a 50mm optical scope, and 20 MOA base. Factory stock. So medium rings??

I've always ran one form or another of 20moa bases and have never needed anything more than a low ring for me. I would imagine that it would/could vary between folks, but I think it would work just fine with a 50mm objective.

On my Savage 10 FCP-SR, I run a EGW 20MOA base, Vortex Viper PST 6-24, and the Seekins Med rings are a tad bit too high. The lows would be perfect, which I plan to purchase soon. Plenty of clearance for Butler caps.

Badger "medium" 30mm rings are .823" high, which is lower then some other's "lows". Work on a Remmy 5R 308 with Badger 20 MOA base mounting a Mk 4 6.5-20 x 50. Clearance for the BC cap and mirage band.

The lowest "low" 30mm rings i have seen measured about 7/32" between the rail and the radius of the ring. It still was plenty high for all my savages with a 20 MOA rail. I still had about 1/4" of clearance between the objective and barrel.

Does that have the same style stock as my FCP-10? I plan on putting it in a better stock one day, but for now, the accustock will have to suffice since I am spending "all my money" on my glass right now. As opposed to having a bad ass stock and $350 Millet scope. Can you guys with the model 10's tell me what height rings you have that are "too high" and I can start to do some homework from there? I am supposed to have this NF in this week. I'd like to get the rings this week and take it to the smith to mount next week.
Also, I am not familiar with "Savage round Back" for the mount. I have never heard of this term or seen it on Savage's website. Is that what I want for my FCP-10?

Some of the older savages had a flat base at the rear end of the receiver.
Any ring higher than low rings is too high IMO, if you are running a raised one piece base.
