I don't know where you guys are getting 1000-1500rd for barrel life, several of my friends shooting this caliber have surprassed 2500rd with theirs, one of them recently pulled his barrel after 3583 carefully documented rounds. It had grown to a bit over 3/4MOA when he tossed the tube.

H1000 is much nicer to barrels than RL22 or RL25 can be, I will be sorely disappointed if I only get 1000rd out of my current barrel.

Very good to know. Most folks probably never get there to find out before the guns become safe queens for another project. I'll note the powders for some future day.

I would pull it. Trying o advertise a sale when you don't meet the requirements is grounds for te ban hammer.

They are definitely out there.
The .300 Win is the most popular "Magnum" that I build. If you need flat and a lot of energy on target, they are very versatile. However if you just need "better than .308" wind and drop, there are a lot better all-round cartridges in short action like .260 Rem, 6XC, the Creeds, etc.

Here is an example of the typical LongSword in .300Win Mag.

Very nice. I'd like something along those lines, I'll have it soon.

I like the class on my siii 6-24 I have on a 22-250, but I have started to like the delineated mil reticles more than the dots. And FFP will be the way to go on my next one. But still, great gun and appreciate your contribution.

There's more of what I was looking in the direction of this thread... I'll look into those suggested...

PS, You make beautiful rifles (like you didn't know that already)

They are definitely out there.

Here is mine, just bought it off another hide member three weeks ago. Tactical Rifles built, .300 Win mag, 20" barrel with surefire .338 muzzle brake, timney trigger, stiller chimera fluted action, and manners T4A stock. I just took the scope off of another rifle to play with until my Nightforce BEAST with the MIL-R Reticle comes in. I have a quick question though regarding the ring size with a 56mm objective. I ordered the high rings (1.125") for this scope and rifle, but I have seen a few that have just enough clearance with the medium rings. What is the consensus for those with 56mm objective NF scopes and rings on their .300 WM?

The 300 is my all around favorite. From taking deer to ringing steel. Once you get one it becomes a disease for which there is no cure. I have an remmy 700 with a 24" barrel which is my hunting rifle that flat out shoots. After a friend rang the bell at 700, he bought a barreled action of of here. He is replicating a mk13 mod5. My custom will be done in a few weeks and I cannot wait to get it on the range. Beautiful rifles y'all!

Where are all the TRG42 guys?

Were're lurking! We won't ever sell. But, we'll listen! I'm here, below the radar and above.......sometimes.300 Win Mag RULES!!!!!!! Just me, Josh.I'm a small part of this. Very small. I'm in the box, behind cover...waiting..........Then, there he is:14 point Buck,,220lbs. at 800yds. BOOM, He's mine!OK It's a dream, but it's my dream!

Josh, at least its not a nightmare. You and Sleve I sense benifit from buy once. I got talked out of it and have a 5r on order. It will need to 'go thru the process' but I am going to learn to shoot the thing. It will need a brake for sure. Just the beginning I fear.

There's Absolutely Nothing "Typical" about your Rifles Terry!!! Everyone of them I've seen are Beauties!

The picture second from the bottom looks Bad Ass! The pic that looks like a crazy light or glow coming is off the rifles.

My Remington 700 5r in .300 Win Mag,... I can not recall the name of the coating used to paint the rifle but it is holding up great. The Surefire brake / suppressor adaptor & larger bolt knob was added about a week after I purchased the rifle. Badger 20 MOA rail with the screws upgraded to 8-40, Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 with EBR-2 ret. mounted with Seekins rings.

When I get home the rifle is getting torn down and thrown into a Cadex chassis with AICS mag system. Now I just gotta finish saving for that can.......

I don't see many 300 win mags on here or for sale.

I was thinking about getting one with a brake as my first jump into the long range tactical market.

What am I missing? SHould I be looking elsewhere for 'better than 308' ballistics?

Thanks Gents.

Dave
I saw two of them at the local GM just the other day.

Nothing too fancy, a M70 Win action, HS Precision stock and a Benchmark barrel.
But I took a bighorn ram with it this fall at 570 yards.

Just bought a Sav 111 for $420. Will rebarrel and make it my own with stock etc etc.

Well, I for one am glad you did post, since I've been enjoying the heck out of the pictures of fine .300 Win Mag rifles everyone's posted. Only problem is, I should be working...uhm...

BTW, here's a 300WM just posted in the for sale section that seems to meet your criteria, price range and style:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/firearms-sale/186208-gap-300wm-aics-bartlein.html

Almost tempted myself.

I've enjoyed it as well, like i said.

That is tempting but I'm trying to heed my own advice and not buy until i sell what i need to first...

Mighty nice looking rifle...wishing for buyers for mine...

I just bought a 700 5r 300WM 24in threaded. What muzzle brake should I get.

I went with the Surefire suppressor adaptor / muzzle brake. If you know you will never suppress the rifle I would still recommend the Surefire. There are plenty of other brakes out there so just look around. Installing the brake was the best thing I did for my rifle, I am sure others could give you advise on other units if you do not want a Surefire.

I have an APA Little Jimmy on mine and love it. Very effective but very loud. Just have to double up on hearing protection.

Any of you have your 300's throated for berger 215's or have used them. Very deadly on game out to 1250 yrds . Seen pics and info on a antelope taken with .300wm with the 215 complete pass through with excellent expansion. You can find it on the long range hunting forum. Good read with lots of field testing under hunting conditions.

Here is the first custon rifle I had built about 5 years ago.
