Sidearms & Scatterguns Anyone Else had Kahr Magazine Problems?

So I have a Kahr .40 that I carry while archery hunting and occasionally for a CCW. I bought it because it's very lightweight, compact, relatively affordable and mostly because it was built in the USA, which is very important to me, working for an American manufacturer myself.

After about only 150 rounds through it, the mag started simply dropping out during firing. At first I thought I was hitting the release, but no...it's just falling out. A quick google search turned up a few random posts here and there expressing the same issue but I'm wondering if anyone here has had the same issue and whether I should try to tackle this myself or send it in for warranty, knowing I might have to pony up.

I've never had a problem with my 9mm but I would at least call Kahr before I tried to alter it to see what they say.

I've also not experienced this with my 9, but agree with Jmc that you should at least contact Kahr first to see what they have to say.

No problems with my Kahr mags. Hopefully it's nothing more than a mag issue and nothing with the gun, and that Kahr will make it right by sending a few new mags your way.

I have a CW9 and the mag had a bad habit of falling out from time to time. I found out that this was a known issue. I called Kahr Arms and they sent me a new mag release button that was a redesign from original. Mag drops have stopped and I also changed my grip a little to prevent the drop just in case it's me causing it.

Like the others have said give kahr a call very well could be your mag release and not the mag itself

I've been super busy and haven't had time to contact them...plus I've been admittedly distracted with my rifle and 9mm. Anyhow, is the swap something "anybody" could handle? I don't have a ton of gunsmith experience, other than the usual breaking down/cleaning aspect of your average shooter.

Thanks for the tip, dagwood.

You can change the mag release button yourself at home. All it takes is displacing the spring with long needle nose pliers, remove old
button and install new one. The Kahr website should have instructions if you have questions. It took me 2 minutes to change it out.
