Hi All,

I'm looking for a semi-auto .308 / 7.62Nato rifle. I have a Sig716 but would like a DI system gun for increase accuracy at longer range. I'm by no means a good long distance shooter (probably at 400-500 yards on good days). But I would like to have the rifle to add to the collection. Since I'm in CA, who knows what tomorrow will bring. Just as an FYI, while a national ban has pretty much been out of the conversation, in CA, it's alive and well and they are moving forward on a state level ban.

Anyways....my question is regarding Nemo Arms and your experience with their products. I know people like their OMEN in 300 win mag, but that will be too much rifle for me. It's not likely I'll ever need to shoot anything pass 1000+ yards and it's going for $6K.

I have seen the .308 rifle for about $3500 and wanted get all your opinion on it. Worth it?

I second Raptorx's point. Nemo arms bought SI-Defense about a year ago. Other than that, I haven't seen many of their guns in the wild so it is hard to make a judgement on them.

GAP, JP, Larue all have good reputations.
 
I agree, go with a proven manufacturer, so you know exactly what you are getting and are not disappointed. I saw a nemo arms 300 mag AR style rifle at a gun shop in Missoula, mt and the price was almost $6k.

For that price, the damn thing better be proven yet I've never read anything saying they are.

If I were you, I'd buy from GAP, JP, or Larue.
 
This is funny, a guy I know just bought a Nemo in .300WM. I had never heard of them until he got his, now this.
 
Well Nemo was going to aquire SI, apparently the deal fell through, or atleast that's what I was told. I do not know if they share manufacturing or if NEMO built their own facility but they are both based in Kalispell Montana. SI has a proven record of building quality stuff, but I stand by my original recommendation.
 
There was a Nemo 308 at a local match recently and it's a nice rig, but at the $6K price point I'd say get the 300WM instead or as already mentioned look at a JP, GAP, or Larue which is a lot less and just as good if not better.
 
Thanks for all input guys! It turns out that the nemo .308 cost $3800 from local gun store. It hit me after what some of you said, nemo is a quality build but for that price it's a lot to pay for something that is unproven.

So I went and picked up the SCAR 17 for less and a proven battle rifle in .308. I might pick up a bolt action in .308 for longer and more accurate shooting the future.

FYI the nemo omen in 300 win mag is $6000 at my lgs.
 
While there is always throwbacks going in the mil community when socom, who has a greater disposable income as well as highly trained and competent personnel decide on a weapon I think its a pretty sure bet its one of if not the best in class.

You'll love that scar, soft shooting and light as hell. Do your part and its more accurate than people give it credit for.

To much bloody money. They probably have to pay for all that slick advertizing. I saw them for the first time at Shot. They advertized enough that you really couldn't miss them. High production value in all their ads and website. The guns themselves look fine, but basically like any other Billet AR but with a nice paint job. Certainly not worth $1k more than a SCAR heavy. Just plain to much money. They look nice but $3500 is to much.
 
Agree with Raptorx, jp, larue, GAP. The Nemo guns look sweet, got to shoulder the 300wm the other day and they really give you something to think about. That being said, I will let the lgs guys spend all their money and tell me if its worth it. I just heard about them a few months back and took a look. Have you looked at the titanium 308 semi auto???? They look sweet but F-ing 50K for that? You have got to be kidding me! If you want the #1 serial number, I think that last time I looked at their website they wanted around 94K for that. I guess there are people out there that can afford 100K for a rifle but they sure aren't in my shooting circle!
 
I will echo what others have said - GAP, LaRue, JP ... but I would also add the LMT MWS to that list as well. Either way, go with something that's proven. Isn't Nemo a cartoon fish?!

Absolutely a TRUE FACT. I'm a fortunate owner of a LaRue LT556 OBR, a LaRue LT762 OBR, and a NEMO OMEN WATCHMAN 2.0 in .300WM. The LT 762 and the NEMO WATCHMAN consistently print 0.32" 3-shot groups. 12 straight at 0.32" one Range Day. The LT556 consistently shoots 0.70" groups (LT SASS Upper, 20" Proof Research BBL.

LaRue and NEMO are BOTH OUTSTANDING TO WORK WITH.
