0-265.7 mph in 2 miles flat...worlds fastest production car.

pffft, pimped out Lotus, big deal ;)
Boutique hot rods are so few and so fragile when it comes to being the 'fastest'. Remember, it took years to knock the legen...DARY Nissan BNR34 Skyline V Spec Nur off the worlds fastest, best podium of production cars. In fact, wasn't the latest version of McClaren just touted as worlds fastest, no wait, it was veyron, er maybe it was R35 Skyline, no wait...you get the idea. This hotted up Lotus will soon fall prey to something faster sooner than later

Oh come on switch, cut it some slack. The GM ls motors are far from fragile, and frankly its making far less power than the drag racers are making with the same series of motors. Is there something wrong with manufacturers pushing limits? Ive seen the car in person and talked to Hennessey, and my only gripe about the whole thing is that it is WAY too expensive. I think the most interesting part about the car is it's traction control. You dont see 2wd road cars with this much power (via turbos) doing clutch drop launches with zero wheelspin. Pretty cool!

Oh, I know. It IS a pretty cool car for a rednecked Lotus Evora. huh? rednecked you ask? Yup, remove Toyota engine, install much faster engine, rednecked. As quoted on 'Are you faster than a redneck' after they got whooped by a V8 powered RX-7,"Hey, you can't drive that here, it's been rednecked, you put a V8 in it, you disqualified son!"

Want to see really fast? Ride along on a 270mph 'shake down run' that ended up taking a tag for 294mph

Did you just try to compare that car doing a shakedown run in any way to a production vehicle? I hope not, because if that's the case and you want to see really fast, I'll post up some videos of the jet cars out on the salt flats.

I've seen quite a few of those over 300mph runs. The Kesolouski(sp?) brothers ran a 249.7 in a 2012 Charger with a ray evernham engine in it. If that Charger was lighter, it would have ran closer to 260 - 279. It was set up for the run, but it looked hellastock

I don't know about that Switch. 265 mph in only 2 miles is an impressive feat. As technology progresses someone will be able to beat the Venom, but unless it is already under development it will be years until we see it. Keep in mind that wasn't the top speed either, just the best they could do with a 2 mile stretch of runway, compared to the Veyron which is slower and took twice the distance. The latest McLaren wasn't dubbed the fastest street car unless you are talking about something newer than the MP4 12C that I am not aware of. The original McLaren F1 was the fastest "street car" for quite a while though.

Switch, you are incorrect. A portion of the lotus exige (not evora) chassis is purchased by hennessey from lotus. It isnt even a rolling chassis, and it certainly doesnt have an engine. In short, it was never a car until hennessy finished it...not rednecked. Poo poo it all you like, but it's fast as fuck, and all cortesy of a pushrod 427 chevy. By the way, the SSC ultimate aero, which was briefly the fastest car, also used a TT LS motor.

I usually dont like comparing the veyron to other fast cars because the veyron (and the agera) are in a different class of engineering. They are more than just quick/ fast cars. The venom is on a whole nother level quicker than either of those cars.

not impressed...it was not a production vehicle. Production= I go to the dealer, pick one out on the lot. That said, Hennessey does do some impressive work...but it's custom work, just like some of our guns. Calling this vehicle production is like calling my C. Dixon 700 a factory gun...in no way is my 700 from Dixon a factory gun

Ruf of Germany does the same thing with Porsche front clips for some of their more extreme models such as the CTR 3: Ruf CTR3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Ruf builds the rest of the car and those things have always been quite impressive in performance but also everyday usability. Germany by the way considers Ruf a car manufacturer and not a tuner due to the amount of car construction they accomplish.

That ass shot screams evora though

I see where you are coming from Switch as far as looks but the Venom (and Elise) are more curvaceous than the angular and creased Evora.

That Venom rear shot screams sexy BAMFing ride to me.
