Pull the bullets, dump the powder---I'd sprinkle it in the yard (not in a pile) or spread it out in a line/thin wide layer and light it (just use a long lighter or match and don't be standing over it)...it flashes up but doesn't explode (I've done this a number of times in the drive way, back porch- never an issue)...just don't do it around anything flammable-paper, dry grass/leaves, any fumes such as paint or gas. Then if the brass is clean (if not clean it)- then chamber the brass, pop the primer and reload...you still have the bullets.
What I'd do...Depending on ammo and what type of crimp...kinetic bullet puller. Pull about 5% from the lot, pop the bullets, inspect powder (keep powder from each case separate)...chamber the case, pop the primer...listen to them. See if the powder separates easily or is clumping together. If all seems acceptable, I'd shoot it.
As mentioned above...give it away. If you're planning on taking it to a store, fire dept, police dept...DON'T, we'll take it.
if 308, 223, 45, 40, 9mm, I'll take it...less terribly corroded.
Post some pics of it.
