Mine is great. Zero issues. I would buy another if I had a need!
I am not a big handgun shooter, but need 1 for some of the matches I shoot. I like the 1911 and I can say nothing bad about the gun. It has cycled with all the loads I have put through it, damn near all of them lead or coated.
The only complaint I have is that when I screw up, it misses... damn thing anyway ...

I'd save my money and get a Colt or Springfield instead.
Mine has been great and a decent shooter for the money. I have over 2000 rounds through mine and not one FTF or FTE.

Mine shot flawlessly stock and still does after the parts added. Aside from a trigger job, give a Wilson Combat FLGR a try. Right now, it is my favorite gun to shoot (my GAP 10 ain't here yet).
Great gun at a good price point. I know several others that shoot them with nothing but good reviews
Here are a few pics of mine. All Wilson Combat parts. Trigger, hammer, sear spring, beavertail. Looking to finish it up with a barrel (threaded for suppressor), whole new fire control, get slide serrations redone, magwell, refinished and sights.

Of the several Springfields and Kimbers that I've owned over the years, the Rock Island Tactical is the only 1911 I have left. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that it occasionally spits copper shavings back towards me. I haven't been able to figure out why.
As far as reliability is concerned, this 1911 has been the most reliable for me with absolutely zero malfunctions so far over its first ~2000 rounds.
Worth the money? I think so.

I got one of the plain jane in 9mm in February. I mean for a little over $400 bucks it guessed it would be worth a try. I know 1911's are supposed to be only .45. Well I got gifted a lot of 9mm and wanted to play with something, truthfully it was the only 9mm I could find. Man! I wished I would have tried the 1911 platform in 9mm sooner. At the 25 yard line two handed I was printing extremely nice groups and there is no "recoil." My spouse even likes it. I did the 'fluff and buff," went with a wilson drop in grip safety, comander hammer and put some Strider/Simonich grips on with the poor man's checkering of skateboard tape on the front strap. Did my own sights - the little tenon thing was fine. This little gun rocks. It is a little magazine sensitive preferring Wilsons via Brownells. A few years back I shot the Western States Single Stack Classic and there was a woman in my squad who had a 9mm. I was a little uncertain then about the 9mm - you know the drill. Major vs minor and penalties for misses. But this gun is pretty darn accurate out of the box. I would shoot it in the classic now, especially with the cost of ammo.
I am approaching 500 rounds with very few issues, like two, one from trying hollow points in a mil spec type gun and one magazine related. All round nose have fed and fired fine - including that aluminum Blazer crap. I say try it.

Out of the box mine had some small minor issues I fixed. But for a $365 gun I didn't have a problem doing what I had to do. Since then it's been great, no complaints at all. It's the compact model, I milled the slide for adj sights, replaced trigger, and polished the barrel. Around 500 rounds on the gun and cant say anything bad about it.
Probably the only compact 1911 with Bomar style adjustable rear sights. Thats the problem with dropping $90 on a carbide dovetail cutter, you'll find projects to use it on.

I have a full size tactical in 45. It's my first centerfire pistol, but not my only one now. I love it. I have a couple thousand rounds through it, mostly lead SWC's that I cast, and it hasn't hiccuped.
I'm shooting it in an indoor IDPA league locally, and it doesn't hold me back. Granted, I'm shooting around 60 seconds with the leaders shooting around 40, but that puts me mid pack here. And that's all the better I am right now.

they now make a 10mm 1911 with a rail also for under 600 bucks
I picked mine up this after noon. And it look great. Yet to fire it, but I k now I will be happy. It is super tight and I k now it will loose n up after 400 or 500 rounds The fit and finish are out standing. I'm as happy as a pig i n poop.
I will ma,ke some cha ngs. Titanium firing pin,Shok buffers, and 3 wilson combat mags.
I am going to sleep with it tonight. the girl friend sleeps on the floor for now!

I've been debating between a Rock Island and a Para Ordnance, anyone have experience with them?
