Re: 2013 Field Precision Rifle matches at Palo Alto

Mother nature may have thrown a monkey wrench in the plans for our monthly FPR match scheduled for this Saturday. We have quite a bit of water at the range right now and more rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
Stay tuned for updates.
Here are some pics from this evening.

Mickey:

Hate to see that happen. We are getting pounded up here too. I got roped into coaching my daughters basketball team this year. Hope to make the shoot in March.

Re: 2013 Field Precision Rifle matches at Palo Alto

Due to the flooding at the range, we will not be having the FPR match at Palo Alto tomorrow. See everyone next month.

Field Precision Rifle Match at Palo Alto
February 9, 2013, 2012

What a huge turnout for the February FPR match at Palo Alto, our first match of 2013. 24 shooters showed and posted some impressive scores despite the challenging winds of Palo that left us scratching our heads on a few shots. We had a chilly morning, but it warmed up nicely.

Mark Olivier took home the 1st place win in the FPR bag class with an outstanding score of 588-25X. Tony Arcement was on Mark’s heals with a 586-25x. Great shooting guys!

Rob Westfall took home the gold with a 1st place finish in the no bag class with a commanding 587-19x from a sling. Jim Speaks, with his trusty 6x47L, took 2nd with a 578-14x.

We had 4 F Class shooters show to shoot the match as a practice match. The race was on only separating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place was X count. John Bishop came out on top with a 578-20x for the 1st place win. Rick Stewart, after dusting his gear, fought the wind with a .223 and posted up an impressive 578-15x for 2nd place. Chip Noel took home 3rd with a 578-6x.
Thanks to Greg Schexauder for fixing us up with the King Cake for breakfast. It sure was tasty. Excellent shooting today Greg! Today was only his third match with a stately score of 568-8X. Special thanks to Jimbo that helped us run the line and everyone that helped prep targets and put out/pick up flags. We can’t thank you all enough.

Field Precision Rifle Match at Palo Alto

April 13, 2013

We had a great turn out for a beautiful spring FPR match yesterday! 20 shooters attended during some of Palo Alto’s trickiest windage conditions. A fish tailing wind and building mirage created a great learning experience for some brand new shooters and a humbling experience for the seasoned veterans. Out of 14 shooters using a rear bag rest, Ted Torres managed to come out on top with a 581-19x. Mark Olivier took second with a 578-11x and Chad Morris in third with a 575-18x.

In the “No Bag” class, Jay Meynier shot impressively with a 565-13x, especially considering he was using three different bullet loads! (175SMK, 173FMJ, and 168SMK) We also had a handful of F-Open practice shooters and awarded a medal to Taylor Boudreaux for her top score of 575-19x.

The next FPR match is Saturday May 11th. Mark your calendars and bring a new shooter along. As always, friends and family are welcome to come spectate, cheer on, and/or cook! See y'all then....Rick, Mickey, & Ted.

Malcolm, it was great to meet and shoot along side you. My shoulder still hurts from watching that .300 hammer yours! Hope you had a good time and see you on the line again.

Great to meet you Malcolm. You did great for your first time and we hope you come back again.
Rick

Thank you, very much! I will be back out there again most likely in June or May. It was very fun and need to work on my wind calling. The things that I learned from the event is that wind is the devil and a .300 win mag is not a round that you want to have hammering your shoulder for 68 rounds. But I had a blast and I can not wait to do it again!!!

Field Precision Rifle Match 6/8/2013 at Palo Alto
Our June FPR match at Palo Alto is in the books. We had 26 shooters in attendance, some of which were first time shooters at a 600Y match. One first timer was Ashley Kosturock, shooting a DPR F-Open rig, posting up an expert class score of 568-11x. Great shooting Ashley! We hope to see you on the line again soon. It was great to see the Hickman family make it out to this match too. Sarah posted up an impressive 546-6X shooting in the no bag class. The temperature warmed up quick after the first string of the day, and the winds of Palo (and Ted’s muzzle brake on his .338L cannon) kept everyone from getting complacent.

In the FPR No Bag Class, Jim Speaks continues to set the pace with a 582-14X to take the first place finish. Brian Alexander was right on his heals with a score of 578-16X finishing in the second place slot. That is some awesome shooting without a rear bag.

In the FPR rear bag class, Alton Britt sealed the deal on a first place finish with a 588-25X. Mickey Brinkman took second with a 580-15X.

With 8 shooters in the F Class Practice class, we awarded a first and second place medal as well. CJ Britt takes the first place, posting the best score of the day, shooting a commanding 592-27X. John Bishop comes in with a strong second place finish shooting a 588-20X.

Thanks go out to everyone for a safe match. We hope that everyone enjoyed the match as much as we did.
See everyone next month,
Mickey, Rick, & Ted
