A potential bolt rifle build, but what have I got, what can I build with it?

I seem to have a Savage 110 long action. It has parts, some of which appear obvious to me, some not so much. It appears to have begun life as a 300 Win Mag.

Ans so he questions come to you, my friends. What exactly do I have, and what can be built with it, and perhaps most importantly what else would it take to make the magic happen?

Say, for example one wanted simply to build a starter long-range rifle in 308. Having begun life as an action worthy of the larger 300 Win Mag, what pieces would it need, what magical incantations and secret sacrifices would bring the greatest benefit in outfitting our lovely rifle for this new beginning in its life.

On another hand, one might assume the object would be to fashion the most powerful and destructive instrument possible given the worthy lineage, the very core of the rifle having been crafted to support at the least the host cartridge, the mighty 300 Win Mag. What special parts would be necessary to bring such a creation into being?

Or on perhaps a third hand, suppose we think for a moment, not of huge Lapua cannons hurling massive slabs of lead at ureasonable speeds over vast distances. Instead perhaps we think smaller, to tiny, slender projectiles accelerated to unthinkable speeds, to strike with almost boring repetition targets both far and near, with little or no holdover concern on the part of the shooter.

Then, within each of these paths, the multitudes of thingies and doodads that would be required to 'make it go'. Because until it goes, well, it is broken, and it does not go. Not going engenders weakness, for when our weapon does not go, we are weak.

You, my brothers, you are smart! You can make it go! Together we can become strong.

But for now, behold my brothers, It Is Broken. It Does Not Go. My brothers, this ought not so to be! Help me, brethren, to find in this cold metal, the spark to create a great weapon. Then impart unto me the wisdom to craft together such parts as it will take to make it GO, so we can BE STRONG, in the manner which we have chosen for it. For as we stand here, it is but a promise, a possibility yet to be realized.

So I present to you a project I shall call Unrealized Potential. Let us begin be seeing the raw materials with which we will be working:

My brothers and sister, what is it, and what can it become?
