Anyone use 285gr BTHPs? If so how are they working for you? What load are you running?

I've only done VERY basic work up on the 285's. Trying to get out after work tonight to do some more, but I've found that 93 and 94gr of Retumbo is starting to look promising. Velocities were 2840 and 2860 respectively.

I have used them with h1000, if you're talking about the Hornady ones. 1" groups and I've done better with lighter projectiles. I have some Retumbo on order and 1000 more of the blems coming from Midway today.

Can I expect a 1x12 twist barrel to stabilize these? So far I've had good results with 250 gr bullets ... haven't tried anything heavier. I figure 300 gr is out, but I wonder about 285.

I just picked up 1k of the Hornady blems from Midway for a song. They're 285 grains, so I think they're Hornady. They don't say for sure, though.

I didn't see any 285 grain blemish bullets on Midway which I assume is where you ordered through.

Edit never mind I see them now. They don't come up under a search of blemished.

Damn, well hopefully they were the Hornady 285 and not the Barnes 285...cause that would be shitty lol

I've purchased a lot of blems lately in different calibers and the ALL have been Hornady and all have visually been free of any blemish that I can tell

Yeah I have bought a lot over the years myself and never had any problem. Wish I would have seen this earlier as I have been checking the blemished bullets every day but those didn't come up under a blemished search. That kind if pisses me off lol. Stupid search engine...

Yeah....I can sympathise with you...I've been checking every day in the blems and was placing an order this morning when I checked in here and saw that notice on the 285's... damn my luck!

Well if you decide 1000 is to much for you I'll take some off your hands....lol

I just checked a pic, and they look nothing like the Barnes

The pic that they show is a generic one and isn't an actual pic. It states that below the pic. All the polymer tip bullets which are normally amax or Vmax are shown with a grey tip but arrive with a red tip like normal.

All of the nearly 1500 amax/vmax blems I've recieved in 6.5, 270, 7mm have all came in AS PICTURED with gray tips

Doesn't matter at all to me...they all shoot the same and I typically moly coat them anyway...so red, gray whatever...they all end up with a silver moly finish :)
