the rifle will be a 260 rem and will be used for long range competition, coyotes, deer, and other pests maybe. currently leaning to the sendero

If you want a detachable mag system, then IMHO it is worth it to get the Manners chassis system as most DBM systems will run you that much but your also getting the chassis for the same price with the Manners.

This build sounds like a hunting build so I'd go with the Sendero profile.

I have the MCS-TA with the chassis, along with a medium palma contour, which comparable.
So, in a word, absolutely worth every penny and completely repeatable when action/barrel are removed and re-installed.
I would love to experiment with different barreled actions in same stock to see the results. I would not be surprised by the positive outcome...

Heavy Palma vs. Sendero:

Sendero is another name for a "remington varmint".

Sendero/RV is almost the same thing as a medium/standard Palma.

The heavy Palma is .100" thicker where the gradual taper begins, and .100" thicker at the muzzle (for any given length). That's a pretty big difference.

In my opinion, the MP or Sendero is an ideal contour that provides plenty of meat where you need it but still allows the rifle to balance well. The HP contour is pretty chunky.

I agree the Manners chassis is worth the money, and if you are going to use this gun for some hunting I would go with the Sendero as well.

I have the chassis in a T4 and love it. As others have stated, by the time you buy a DBM setup and then have to bed the stock you have saved money. Manners also has the chassis in BDL if thats the direction your going.

I love the mini chassis my 308 sits in. I would buy another based on my experience. Stockys had this one in stock and it was delivered to my smith about two days after ordering.

It depends what you're after. I would go Medium Palma or Sendero. Some people like the truck axles but sendero is a good all around contour. As far as the mini chassis goes, I like them but don't necessarily like Badger DBM. Check out APA or surgeon DBM. If you aren't going to get a mini chassis you should most definitely get it bedded. Call Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs, he will get you squared away.

The Manners Mini Chassis is definitely worth it. If you were to buy a DBM and then get it installed and the action bedded it would be more than the $360. You get the ease of bolt in and go with a DBM combined with an excellent Manners stock. No downside.

As to the Badger DBM, the Badger style release like on the Mini Chassis works very well. I have been using a Badger DBM for years and never had any problems with it. The release is different on other DBMs but I am sure you will do fine with the Mini Chassis.

We eat some and give most away to some folks short on food. They are delicious.

Personally I like the Badger bottom metal that comes with. Feeds great with the AI mag and while secure its easy to drop the mag without any issues. It's a solid system and very economical in the package Manners offers.

My Thunder Ranch has the mini chassis and the only thing I dont like about it is how far the mag release sticks out. When slung over the shoulder it is easy for the release to get pushed and there goes your mag.
