My typical load right now is imr 4895 with br-2 primers and SMK.

i cant find my usual primers but picked up 200 of these (9 1/2 m magnum rifle primers) today at bass pro. waste of money or am i good to go?

They will work, but you need to be careful. Magnum primers are better suited for slow burning powders, such as H1000 and Retumbo (which aren't used in 308 loads). If you decide to give them a try, a new load workup will be in order, start 10% below max and CAREFULLY work up. You will probably notice larger ES and SD if you find something that works.

If I was you, I would ask a buddy that has a magnum rifle if perhaps a trade could be arranged.

I use WLRs in my 308 and thats a hotter primer than the 9 1/2M. And it works very well I might add.
