Just go ahead and get both. I have both and the most useful seems to be 6-9 but I don't do a lot of shooting on slopes either.
Depends on terrain too. If you are prone with tall grass in front then u may want a little extra height
At this point I can only afford to pick up one or the other unless they are pretty cheap, I've only got about $100 right now. I found Blackhawk bi-pods for about $45 but don't know if they are any good. There are some other brands that are even cheaper but I don't want total crap that will break down quickly. I'm open to recommendations. Thanks for your input.
I run the 9-13s out here. 99% of my shooting is prone in tall grasses and many hills. The smaller ones are useless for field/hunting/grass over 12" high, but nice for the bench. I have them from 6-9/9-13/13-27 for what I do. Brand make no difference either & I have them all.
I love my 6-9 because when I go prone I like to get down low and "become one with the Earth".
But if there are any weeds, you'll need something taller. 9-13 is probably a good place to start.

Oh, yeah. Be sure that you get a swivel head (Harris Type S or equivalent) and a Pod-Loc so that you can easily loosen it up and tighten it down.
Terry Cross is a great guy, so I recommend genuine Pod-Loc. Anybody know where I can buy a couple? They're out of stock everywhere that I looked.
Get the 6-9. Works on the bench and for 99% of prone work. As far as the high weeds argument... I doubt you'll be taking that shot prone.
I say get the 6-9. You can always get higher by sticking something like a pack under it but you can never get lower. I tend to like my bipod around 7" while shooting prone. As was stated your build will have an effect on this. If you are heavier or plan on wearing a thick chest rig while shooting prone a higher bipod may be the way to go.

The 9-13 was WAY too tall for me to use on a bench and a little to high on 9" when shooting prone. I'm sure it would be more useful on rough terrain, or if I was a bigger guy (as in like bigger in the belly).
I've always wondered why Harris or someone didn't make a 7-10 as it would probably be perfect.
6" on the 6-9 is completely unusable for me. The legs are always extended at least one notch.
As others have said, if you go the Harris route, make sure you get the swivel base and the notched legs. A pod-lock would also be a wise investment when buying the swivel base.

Good advice here. If you can't have both, get the shorter one. My 9" is just too tall for prone shooting without a very large rear bag.

Exactly my experience.
I picked up the Blackhawk pivoting 9-13" bipod this past weekend and it works just fine at 9". It's a pretty good deal for about $45. I can see that I'll be getting a 6-9" for bench shooting or "becoming one with the earth" as was mentioned previously. Above 9" is fine for prone shooting on uneven/sloped terrain. When I get the 6-9" it will probably be a Harris and I'll do a comparison of the build quality. The Blackhawk is pretty sturdy and gave me no trouble when I went shooting on Sunday. It was definitely nice using a bipod instead of my pack and my groups seemed better than the last time I went out. I need to get an adapter so I can use it on my AR. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.
