After having a few different magnum snubbies and letting them go I have a renewed interest in compact wheel guns. The LCR is about the perfect pocket revolver IMHO. I opted for the .357 becasue it has a steel frame and can fire anything although a tad heavier. The .38 offering has an alloy frame and I have read a few cases of flame cutting or the sort so I opted for the magnum version. The .357 still packs a wallop and does a good job. The Ruger fit my large hand perfectly, now to get some trigger time with my stiff 140 JHP loads for fun. It also has a damn smooth trigger BTW.

Great little carry gun and they have a nice DA trigger out of the box. Speer's 135 Gold Dot 38 +P is engineered for 2" guns. After a ton of testing in the jello i stopped carrying 357 loads and only carry the Speer now.

I bought one of these for my wife, it is her constant companion. I opted for the .357 version because the little bit of extra weight and the 38 special gold dots make it much easier for her to shoot. She preferred the trigger of the LCR to that of the Smith and Wesson.

Agree. Have had a S&W 340PD for a long time now. Advances in ammo design sway the mind to the conclusion that .357 loads = more flash, more recoil, slower followups, and little if any functional ballistic advantage.

Good luck

22 grains of H110 and a 125 XTP is impressive though. We call it our man test at work. 5 rounds, strong hand only in rapid succession. A lot of flame. I think it hurts more than a full house 500S&W mag.

I have the Smith 340 , I run 38 plus . Seems like the general consensus. They are cool to shoot and practice with.
