I read a whole bunch of reviews that the PST 4-16 has a pretty poor quality of glass. Does anybody know if this is been corrected?

The one that I bought, and returned, a month ago did not impress me. Since Vortex frequently brings out new models, I expect that any improvement to the glass will be in a new model, not an unstated improvement to the existing model.

FWIW, did not impress me doesn't mean it was terrible - if you're used to cheaper scopes it might seem great. It just wasn't as good as other scopes I've had in the $700-1000 price range, such as Bushnell Elite Tactical, Weaver Tactical, Burris XTR, Leupold Mark IV, and the Sightron SIII (which is absolutely amazingly good), etc.

Thanks for your input. I think I will just steer clear of it for now.

Mine has been great. My understanding is that the ones that had issues were the early production. I don't think glass quality has been an issue for some time now with the PSTs. All of them 2-10, 4-16, 6-24 should be good to go. My 4-16 has good glass.

The first models were the one's with the not so great glass. Mine is amazing, like it wayyy better then the leupolds I use on my work guns. Just my 2 cents.

what time line are we looking for as the new/old glass, im negotiating on buying one from a friend that got it in Oct 2012?

i have one, it's not quite MK4 in low light, but real close if not equal in daylight. and i love the reticle. the lillum is as good as any out there. but the 6-24 has better glass for sure.

Same with me.

Thanks for the input guys. It's had because I can get a good deal on these but don't have any close to actually look through.

big fan... so much that I have 2 @ 4-16x50 PST FFP in moa/moa..... one on my LMT MWS and the other on my RRA EOP.... both are great shooters.

I have a Viper PST 4-16 SFP mil/mil and now I'm thinking it may be an earlier one (bought it 2 years ago LNIB from a hobbyist). At 16x glass doesn't hold a candle to the Leupold VX-III 10X I used to have.... or the ACOG TA11E I used to have... the only other scope I currently own is an Elcan 1.5-6x and looking through that is a tough act to follow. I'm going to check out a new Vortex in store sometime and see if I notice a difference. To be fair the way I have it set up on my PTR the eye relief is not correct... I need something a little shorter.
