can you resize once fired lake city 7.62x51 nato brass, and fire out of .308 bolt rifle? i'm getting conflicting google searches...some say yes, some say no...

I have had issues with some cases sticking, or not being able to close the bolt on them, even after trimming and FL sizing them. Not sure why I have been told its because the stuff was fired out of a 240B and it stretches the case? Not sure why. I don't have issues with LC Match brass but its been fired out of a bolt gun from the first firing. If the work for you use them, if not sell them or save them for something that will.

Depending upon the weapon in which it was fired, you may need a small base body die to get it to fit your rifle. Otherwise...load away.

That's all I use in my bolt guns shot several hundred so far. I think I've had 1 or 2 that for some reason were tight on closing the bolt so I pulled them down and resized them. (over pressure was certain in my minds eye) Guess they didn't take the initial sizing the same way the other brass did. I do try to leave only 2 thousandths play on bolt guns I'm trying to get the longest brass life possible out of the brass. They shoot very well after deburing, trimming and annealing 175 smk 41.7 IMR4064 & Winchester or CCI large primers. I check a few with the Hornady headspace gage to verify proper sizing then I throw a few in the chamber for ease of bolt closing before I go hog wild on a mass of Brass Now no tight cases lately.

I bought 500 that were once fired from Midway some years ago. They reccomended using a small base die for the first sizing then using your regular die after that for a bolt gun. With proper case prep, they are outstanding and I have shot some of my best groups with my .308s using them.

Best thing is if you buy std ball ammo brass, resize it with a S/B the first time if your using a bolt gun, then just bump it or FL size it there after.
If you are like many of us who runs that brass in many weapons S/B it every time until you find a/the pressure cut, then junk it.
Having a weapon or load combo that you have to keep track of for safety, or the ability of it to work properly if/should you "Need" it, can/could be a life changing event at the most inopportune time.

Different folks see things very different, but to me going bang, is the primary concern. I'll take a 1.5moa gun that never fails to fire over a .25 gun that may fail at the first sign of mud, sand or ice up.
A target gun only, is a different thing. Even at that, it still has to finish the course.
