Pacific Tool And Gauge is having a sale on bottom metal. Remington 700 SA M5 with NO MAG is only $75.That's 42 percent off. They have long action metal for $99. Just wanted to let everyone know.

I see they accept AI mags, any recommendations on who to have inlet it? I don't trust myself. Also which is better stealth or flush?

They take alpha mags as well. Talked to Dave for a bit that information has been verified by several customers.

Excellent, thanks for the tip.
I had been waiting for some bottom metal to jump out at me, and well this it.
Before this thread popped up, I had started to search for a definitive M700 DBM Compare & Contrast thread.

PTG M5 style DBMs have received good reviews, if I'm not mistaken. And considering they accept the standard (AI/AW) mags, this definitely looks like a steal.
My order is placed, its too bad 5rd .308 mags are so scarce.

Midway has 5 Rd AI 308 Mags in stock. At least they did a few hours ago.I think they were around $66.00

Regards,Mike

^^^Thanks guys.

As soon as I typed that out, I looked at midway to see how much I saved on the metal, and sure enough- .308 AI mags right there in the Recommended Products box.

I really want to buy this but I am not sure where to send it to have it inlet. Any suggestions?

If it were me, I'd wait and order a stock that can pre-fab'd with the M5 inlet.
Do you already have a stock purchased?

For example, I won't be trying to inlet my Hogue stock to accept the M5 (though possible); rather, I'll be holding onto the PTG metal until I'm ready to order a stock that will come inlet for the M5 (B&C or Choate, or another mid-tier stock).

That's what I plan on doing but so far I haven't found any mid level stocks that come preinlet for the m5 as well has anyone confirmed the PTG Badger m5 inkers are 100% identical?

I can vouch for the PTG bottom metal. I run the long action in my 300 WM, McMillan A5. Mags click in, fit tight, and don't rattle around. This is hands down the best deal on bottom metal out there.

To my knowledge, both Bell & Carlson and Choate Tactical (both mid-level) have stocks with M5 inletting.
They may be out of stock...

B&C definitely does not, I spoke to them yesterday on the phone, they said it is something they hope to do in the future but do not offer it at this time. Choate I am waiting to hear back from.

Yeah I spoke to Tactical works yesterday too, they get the stocks direct from Choate already inlet. I wrote Choate to see when they think they will be instock but I haven't heard back yet.

Cool. Could you PM me if/when you get an ETA from Choate?

To the rest of you guys: Sorry for hijacking the thread with my budget build conversation.
Back on topic -
PTG Bottom Metal, $75. Get you some!

Joe Collier of Collier rifles inletted a HS precision stock with surgeon DBM for me, did a great job and quick turnaround time, highly recommend him! I am sure he can do other DBM setups.

Good info! thanks.

I ordered a bottom metal and recoil lug (for my 260 build)yesterday morning and got an email saying it shipped out today. Almost feels like I stole the bottom metal.

^^^gotbthe same email, I know what you mean lol. Now I just need a stock to but in in.

Just got my stealth M5 DBM in the mail today, very well built looking forward to getting it installed.

Will this item drop into a B&C M40 stock or will it require milling?

Further up in the thread, Kamkaze noted that, per his conversation with them, Bell & Carlson do not have any current stocks with PTG/M5 inlets. I'm not sure if an M40 stock would be any different, so you'll likely have to do it yourself, or send to the smithy...

For the rest considering this deal:
PTG Metal ($75) + AI 5round 308 mags (2 - $65/ea) = $205. Depending on how you compare to other brands, or other sellers, you are almost getting one of those mags for free.
Great deal.

I think this deal might be over, I didn't see it on their site today. I did get word that choate will have their preinlet tactical stocks in stock in about 4 weeks.

It will require milling. I did see GAP offers that service for $75 plus return shipping. Or you can buy the stock direct from them inlet for the M5 bottom metal.

A little update on this. I just received my B&C light tactical stock that was inlet for a badger m5 by the previous owner. The PTG fits perfectly in it. I don't have my SPS AAC yet so I can't put it all together but the fitment is nice and tight, it stays in without the screws or anything holding it.
