Hey guys I bought a bunch of Federal 215 primers a while ago to begin reloading the 338 lapua and just found out there is a match version the GM215M. I'm so pissed I didn't know about these. Anyways wondering what your guys experience is with both of these primers. Should I sell the 215 and just start out with the 215M primers? My whole deal is to make a really accurate load but if I can get more accuracy with the 215M I'd rather go with those. Thanks for your input.

I have loaded Winchester, Federal, Federal Match and Wolf. All did equally well EXCEPT Wolf which gave me my only squib and many hangfires and "click-bangs". I have shot perfect scores (all 20 rounds in the 10 ring) with Winchester, Federal and Federal Match so I wouldn't worry about it.

I was using 215m's but recently switched to CCI large rifle magnum(due to shortage) and the load is shooting 1/4MOA. I imagine that primer manufactures take more steps to assure the tolerances of match primers but it hasn't had an effect on me.

What about Remington 9-1/2 magnums? I just picked up 1k of them because that's all that was available. I usually run 215m or cci250.

The standard primers and Match primers are made on the same line. The primer mix is squeegeed into the cup by hand. The most experienced operators produce the "Match" primers because they are thought to more consistant with their technique. It is usually more of a mental thing for the shooter. I've shot thousands of both and in reality the regular primers are quite consistant.

Did not know that, interesting tidbit.

After doing some research I found the 9 1/2M primers isnt any hotter than a 210, WLR or 9 1/2 for that matter, Id say they should work in pretty much anything that doesnt burn more than 80 grains of powder.

I handload the 338LM and the 215Ms are my primer of choice. I've used regular 215s and Win LRM primers, to good effect, as well.

For a few extra bucks, the match primers work for me.

Interesting. I ran 25 or so through my 338lm without issue. But i did notice it has the lowest brissance on the chart for magnum primers. I picked up 1k of the 9-1/2m because that's all i could find. Until today - stumbled across 1k 215m at a local pawn shop! Looks line I'm gtg for now...now if only i could find some 300gr otm's

I use 215m's and WLRM'S interchangeably with the same loads and they produce the same result. I thinks it's all hype to charge an extra buck.

I was once told the only difference between the match and non match is that the match ones go through QC twice

Federal told me that match primers are made only by someone who has at least 20yrs working there.
