Im looking for some info. from people who have owned some of these stocks and what they think about them against each other. I have a savage fcp-k in .308 that I am want to buy a new stock for. I want it to have the DBM for the AI mags. If I go with the AICS, then I have to do some inletting because I have the newer bolt release. If I go with the mcmillian or the manners I have to use the CDI bottom metal for the savage and I will bed it. What stock will yield the better shooting rifle?

Does XLR tickle your fancy at all? I love mine. Will put up some picks when I get it back from getting dipped. They really are a quality product worth looking into.

Entirely personal preference.

With that said, I think some stocks are better for particular styles of shooting. (Tac matches, bench rest, etc) Some people like thumb holes, some like vertical grip with thumb on top, some like pistol grips.

Me? I've tried AICS, McMillan A4, A5, and a Manners (don't remember which model). I stuck with the traditional AICS. I like the hand placement best.

I'm a McMillan A5/Manners T4 kinda guy, personally. I've got my next 5 builds put together in my head, all of them have stocks. But like TallShot said, completely personal preference. Neither stock nor chassis will hinder performance. Keep in mind, though, that a fully adjustable stock with DBM will be up with a high end chassis in price, and most people bed them afterwards (another couple hundred dollars if you don't do your own bedding).

I shoot 2 rifles regularly, one in an AICS and the other with a McMillan A5. I like both equally! I'm very happy with both styles.
