When attaching a muzzle brake, is it necessary to get it on there 100% level? I tried different combinations of spacers for an hour and was only able to get it about 98% level. Does this affect accuracy in any way?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's critical. The bore of the brake needs to be absolutely parallel and in line with the rifle bore. Washers are not the best way to go. The best way is to indicate the barrel in and cut the threads and shoulder, then butt the brake to it and bore bore the brake. Sure, there are other ways that obviously have worked for many, but I've literally seen factory ar barrels threaded for muzzle devices that didn't even have threads all the way around! That just ain't cool! The prepackaged brakes get around poor factory workmanship by making the hole quite a bit over sized. This kills the performance of the brake faster than any design change in the brake itself can. In other words, I'd rather have the least effective brake that is installed properly than the best brake that wasn't.

If you are referring to the timing and having the brake's ports perfectly parallel then no, it's does not need to be perfect.

I use peel washers to get it just right. They peel off in .002" so you can get the break level. Let me know if you want the number from the packaging or more info.
