Hello to everyone here, i have been readind a lot and finally decided to take up long range shooting. Before i delved with my head in, i had to get a whiff of what it would be like to do some long range. Primarily i am pistol ipsc shooter and lack of availability of everything kept me away from this discipline. Anyways hoping to learn a lot here.

Thanks guys!
You know you ppl are really lucky to have things so readily available. The 2nd amendment has really kept you people enjoying the most.
am new to long range shooting and have been reading a LOT to get to a point where things are starting to be understandable. Just bought the pair of books by Bryan litz.
will post things as soon as they start happening.

Hey welcome, as someone new myself I can say this is a great place to learn. It really has a wealth of information. What part of Pakistan are you in? I had to hang out at Fateh or maybe it was Rawalpindi, either way it was in Islamabad. Kabob's were on point!

Btw, how's the weapon situation over there? Is it a pain in the ass to maintain a hobby like this?

I am in the South of the country in the simmering heat of 44 degrees Celcius right now. Rawalpindi is in the north and a nice place to be in summer.. and go for the Kebabs. THAT is the ONLY thing that happens at night in whole of the country. Spices are used in such quantities that it would make the sun run for spun fun.

This hobby is like a science in itself and absolute dedication is needed, that is what has come to me in my reading and reaching this forum.. feeling lucky to be a part of such a place.

Anyways now the question by Sidewaysil80: NOTHING is available in shops except scrap AFA rifles are concerned; on top of it all getting things such as a simple 125$ laser range finder which would normally be termed as the lowest in the worst is a HUGE issue here. Let alone a good mildot scope such as leupod mark 4; anyone with S&B PMII is looked as someone who is from MARS as not many people can afford to get it imported to Pakistan as almost always costing double the rate in US and with over a year of waiting time and that too getting what you didn't order for and BTW: NO REFUND.

Rifles are a different story altogether, Import banned since 1986 so new rifles are hardest to find, and even if you do get them they are mostly in odd calibers brought by someone who has a ruse to show to customs. CZ 550 in .308 recently was sold from the shop was 4500$ with almost 6$ per pop of winchester 150 grain hunting ammo. CZ 750 S1M1 is about 14000$ and that too USED and accuracy well worked out of it. Recently .308 Win "Mauser extreme" was sold at whooping 16000 $. NO reloading equipment available not even primers. AFAIK i know only THREE Blaser R3 are in hands of hunters. Ammo is sold at just 100 Bullets per YEAR on license (the limit available) and on top of it all just the regular 150 grain ammo has to be searched from shops all over the country. Match grade is like GOLD as competitions do happen and competitors buy Match ammo at about 15 $ "a piece" with 175 gr Sierra Match King bullet with 6 months of wait and ammo limit of 200 per competitor.

This may interest you "Glock 17 4th gen NIB is 3700$ and NO BARGAINING"

IT is not pain in the ass but conservatively said FISTING done to shooting community here by the local dealers (we call them ho's grandfather). SORRY for the words... but most of the dealers here are fleecing people with both hands. guys !!!! over there in US you are in a HEAVEN.. ABSOLUTE HEAVEN for SHOOTERS.

BUT.. when there is will there is way.

I have started to gather some things along this year long quest and will post soon the rebarelled rifle that I have built on Mauser 98 with m60 barrel. Just bought a rcbs used and am writing for dies in 308, the only dies that seem to be best are micrometer seaters by redding or forester in 3 die set arrangement.
The only way to get accuracy is get the available ammo and tinker with it. And if luck favors reload. Taking this road mainly cauz comepetition ammo such as hirtenberger 190 grain is 5 $ a pop, Rws 168 gr is 6$, others are three time fgm is about 10$ a pop.
Now need a little help guys. The only propellant that I can get easily is h4320 equivalent in properties.

Welcome to the hide my friend. Yes we are lucky over here but we fight to keep it that way!
It sounds like a hell of a struggle to get into shooting sports for you. A 100 round limit, that's rough! Best of luck to you.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. It's a great site to learn from.

Thanks Nukeman, with help from ppl here I have come this far to actually think about reloading, threads at SH have more info than almost everything combined on net. All available in one info mine. You guys rock
