If you're going to be truing the receiver, you will probably be rebarreling. Based solely on this I would go with the 5R for the stainless steel receiver. Just as good as CM, but better corrosion resistance. In the meantime you can have the barrel cut to whatever shorter length, which has the added benefit of a new crown.

Otherwise, its long or short, light or heavy? The LTR makes for a great 'do everything' rifle. It is also already 20" so you save money. I wouldn't worry about the rounds as 308s have long barrel life. I would look carefully at the bolt faces and make sure there are no chips or burns from bad reloading. I would also examine the crowns of each rifle.

Got ya
The aac is new unfired
It can be had for about 1K

Heres the problem
The rifles are for sale on line
2 of them are here on the Hide
Cant put my hands on them..Lol

buy the 5r and don't look back. Stainless barrel jeweled bolt 5r rifling and resell value is fantastic

Night eagle

Many of the newer 5R's also have a 20" barrel. I had this same buyers dilema several years ago and I went with the 5R and am still very pleased that I did. My buddy and I both got .308's at the same time; him a LTR he bought locally and was shooting it the same day. I got mine off of the Hide and it took a week so he had a head start dialing his in. However the next trip we took to the range and the subsequent trip to montana afterwords had him re-thinking his purchase. Don't get me wrong, his LTR is fine, and shoots good but the 5R barrel cleans a lot easier, the rifle looks sharper, and it groups tighter. Just my experience though.

Heres pics of the 5R
It will cost me about $1200...I think Im gonna PULL the trigger on it
Oh Yea,Already has a Wyatts DBM

Im also looking at a Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP from Chris at Sportoptics

Lonely Wolf asked about the crown

5r or the AAC-SD built one. OR get a stock AAC-SD and build it yourself. Thats half the fun IMO.

I own three Rem 700 5R guns. Great guns, great value. All three shoot half MOA.

PB.

Between the LTR and the 24" 5R you posted pics of I would get the LTR if you want to take it predator hunting out of the gate. If it was just a range gun I'd get the 24" 5R and leave it be. Its amazing the difference 4" less barrel makes as far as handling in the field. The 5R also has a very shiny barrel which you would want to do something about before heading out with it.

If it was me though I'd buy the 20" 5R and either ceracoat it yourself or have somebody else do it right off the break. Lay a nice earthy color over the whole gun as a base and then lay the pattern with krylon if you so choose so you can change the pattern.

I wouldn't put a 6-20 on a coyote gun though. You rarely get them to stand still long and you're going to hate trying to find them at times with a minimum of 6X. Something with a low range of 2.5-3X is ideal, and 4X at the most.

20' 5R's are kinda hrd to find
Is there something wrong with taking this 24' and cuttiing it down and having it threaded?
This is what Id like to do?
It already has the DBM
scope base
And I hear what ur saying about the scope power
I will look into other options
