So about 2 months ago I go to Powder Valley and order up 3K 230g Berrys bullets for the 45. They were showing out of stock at the time. After I placed the order I went back to the page to check on something else and thats when I noticed the blurb saying that they are no longer accepting backorders and all orders that are placed on out of stock items will automatically be canceled. So figuring that the order was cancelled I went directly to Berry's website and they were taking backorders so I redid the order for 3K bullets. Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago and I come home from work and there are 2 large heavy boxes on the front porch...one from Berry's and one from Powder Valley. So, here is my question...are they taking backorders or not? I just placed another order with them for backordered items, but I have no idea if the order will be cancelled or if I just gotta wait it out for the big brown truck. I would call but they dont answer the phone any more either. Anyone have any experience with this yet?

They ARE taking backorders if you order something that shows in-stock on the the website, and is not in-stock. They did that for me on some 52 HP Match I ordered (showed in-stock, such was not the case)

This shows just how great this website can be when us we need answers or at least ideas.

I would have just called them on the phone and not posted about it, but that's just me.

In '08-'09, PVI stopped taking orders on primers altogether, after a certain point, since it was a fruitless effort and they had no way to know what supplies were going to be like, 2-6 months down the road. For stuff that was/is coming in regularly, sure...they'll take the order.

Midway does this all the time. Backorders OK, or NO backorders. Some stuff obviously get's rotated out of the supply chain, or ceases in production/distribution and finally, these companies aren't very quick in updating their websites. I still can't believe how crappy Natchez's site is after all of these years.

Looks like he tried to call before posting.

I have some orders in with PV. They weren't backordered though (to my knowledge at least). They were over 3 weeks ago and haven't shipped. At the time the website said it would be at least 3 weeks until shipping, but today it says they're working on (powder) orders from April 17. It'll get here when it gets here.

If the order was placed before 1/29/13 at 8AM, and if the item was in fact showing out-of-stock at the time of order, the order should have been backordered.

If the order was placed after 1/29/13 at 8AM,

- and if the item was in fact showing out-of-stock at the time of order, the order should have been cancelled.

- and if the item was in stock, the order would (take quite a while to) ship.

Anything else was a mistake. By someone. (Although it may be possible that PV is not initially posting all of their inventory to the web site, visible inventory moved to OOS, then they did a final check, found more was in fact available, and shipped it.)

But if the item was showing out of stock, and if you read the home page, why place the order?

Final note: PV is a great outfit, communicating pretty well (including by Facebook), but "unfortunately" is run and operated by humans lol.

Man you guys crack me up sometimes. Never once did I say a negative thing about PV. I love the company and will continue to do business with them. I did not realize they were not taking backorders when I placed the original order or I would not have placed the order. When I realized they were not taking them, I placed the order with another company. I received both orders. My question was whether or not people had in fact received backordered items even though they are not taking backorders, or was my case just an anomaly? How you can take what I said as a criticism of PV? I guess the only time you can ask a question that is not full of praise and fluff around here is if you are asking a question about Larue

I ordered a couple of items back in early March that they showed in stock at the time. Unfortunately for me I was hurrying so much to get the order out that I failed to notice that the third item ordered was showing out of stock at the time. Two days later I got an email notifying me my entire order had been cancelled. Needless to say, the other two items previously in stock were no longer available. several subsequent orders placed for in stock items were shipped per the timelines stated on their web site.
