Just picked up my new pof 415 in 556, 14.5in barrel. Used to have an EOtech on an LMT and enjoyed it but need something with just a little bit of magnification, any recommendations?

The sky is the limit for optics, it is mostly dependent on your budget. There are several good options in the 1-4x, 1-6x, 1.5-8x, 2-10x and so on. A typical recommendation for a high value 1-4x is the Vortex Viper PST for around $499. The SWFA 1-6x looks excellent to me for around $1000. USO has some cool options out now too for a little more. For a cheaper alternative, the Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4x is pretty decent as is the VX-R Patrol. Burris Mtac 1-4x, 1.5-6x both seem nice and are well priced. Nice Rifle, btw.

What is the primary use for the rifle? This is important as the use of the rifle will determine what direction you will go for optics. Also, what is your budget for optics. I ASSume you spent over $1500-3000 for the rifle, now is not the time to cheap out on optics.

What is the primary use for the rifle?

That's the big question that needs answering in any optic recommendation thread. Got a Vortex Razor II 1-6x24 and couldn't recommend it highly enough. Excellent optic for what I use it for which is a 3 gun scope.

+1 on knowing that key piece of info before offering recommendations.

There are SO MANY different ways to outfit an AR with optics, all of which are 100% dependent on your particular needs/wants/uses for the rifle, that any recommendations without knowing that are a shot in the dark (no NV) at best. ;)

In my (unprofessional) opinion, I would opt for a NightForce NXS 2.5-10 in a Spuhr or GDI mount with Trijicon RMR at a 45deg offset. That's the setup I'll go with on my 12" P308 upper.

On my 18" POF .223 I will have a Vortex 2.5-10x32 in a Warne RAMP mount with a Burris Fast Fire III on the 45 so it can be used close and far. My Seekins with the Vortex above can't run a set up like that as it puts me into Open class in 3 gun so the 1-6 works very well for Tac Optics.

After you let us know the main purpose of your new rifle we can give you some more precise direction and information on experiences. Sky is the limit as well are options for the optic. I have a POF 415 with 18" barrel with an Aimpoint COMPML3. This is my 200yd and in rifle. I have a 6.8II with a Vortex PST 4-16x50 EBR, and a POF P308 with a Vortex PST 4-16x 50EBR. Both mounts are LaRue 1.5 Rock solid set ups and they work VERY well for me.

Vortex is great glass for the price point and the CS is second to none.

To hell with the rest of them, get the best Schmidt and Bender. And all it will cost you is your soul and first born lol. As mentioned already it depends on what you are going to use this rifle for, but since Killshot has a POF I would go with his advice. But if you are looking for something that will work from point blank 0-600 yards take a look at the 1X-6x or 1x-8x for 800 yards. I love my Swarovski but I will still have to get a higher power scope if I want to reach way the F__K out there.

I'm running a ior 1.5-8 trident on a seekins build I just finished. It's kick ass!!! Schott glass, need I say more?
