I'm trying to decide on which scope to put on my new GAP Thunder Ranch and I have narrowed it down to these two scopes. There are many features in both of them that I like, but don't have anyway of seeing both of them in person. My two main concerns is that I don't want to buy a Mark 4 if the glass is going to be noticeably better in the Mark 6. Also I don't want to end up with a Mark 6 and not like the quality of the turrets that seem sloppy in the review linked below.

So if you have one let me know what you think of either one, If you have been able to use both of them let me know which you preferred.

I have a mk4 (About 3 years old) 6.5-20 LRT with Illuminated TMR (bolt gun) as well as a mk6 1-6x and mk8 1.1-8x on ar style rifles. IMO, you can tell a rather distinct difference in them. Leupold has really come a long way in recent years. I will replace my mk4 with either a mk6 3-18x or more likely a mk8 3.5-25x.

I am really hapy with my new leupold's. I got a couple from cs tactical here. Great guy, great service!

I have the MK4 M5A2 with H-27 and like the scope a lot, the locking turret takes some getting used to. I always forget to push the button, I can see how the pinch lock is more user friendly. It's very robust scope and glass quality is superb compared to other Mk4 scopes. My next scope will be the Mk6 H-58 because of the compact size and weight. With the Horus reticle I don't find myself turning turrets nearly as much as I do with my Nightforce scopes, so the turret ergo is not a big deal to me.

Thanks guys. The size/weight of the Mark 6 makes it tempting. Since most of the time I will have my suppressor mounted on this rifle, a lighter scope would help.

Wyfox: Have you had a chance to look through a Mark 6 to compare to the 34mm ER/T?

I'm also waiting for a reply from Leupold. I inquired if they use different glass in the Mark 4 34mm than the Mark 6
