I have a Rem 700 AAC-SD 20" in .308 and I'm trying to get my ballistics chart as accurate as possible.

On the back of the Federal Gold Metal .308 in 168g box it says 2650 fps, but I'm not sure at what barrel length. Anyone have data from the AAC-SD?

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I will try the method mentioned by Dfoosking, starting at 2520 and go from there.

In my box stock Savage 10 PC, 20" 1/10 barrel, I'm getting 2600-2610.

But, you've got a different rifle. :)

I have several .308's and thatw what I shoot in all of em. All my 20"s I get 2650 and my data proves it.

I set up a SPS tactical today for the range in a HS precision stock with a SS 5-20 on it, zeroed it, put in on the bench and went with my dope for 2650 and hit good at 400-800 yds today based off of that, that should be the same gun you have basically.
All guns will be different and you need to proof you dope. Start with something close to get you on target and look for how much you are off vertically. If you zero at 100 and you shoot at a target 500 yds away and hit .5 MOA lower than your chart says record that and then move to other distances and true it out. You will get the hang of what kind of adjustment you need to make.

Good luck

Different barrels of same length will give varying vel. My ltr 20 gave high 2500's, my 24 inch 40x gave mid 2600 with the fgm 168. My 29 in. with stout load of varg. and 168 Berger vld. gives 2915, which is butt kicking and stays low to the ground!!!! Guess which one I use??

20in 5r 168 FGMM averaged 2494 for 10 rounds at 584ft above sea level.

24in 5r 168 FGMM averaged 2605 for 10 rounds at 584ft above sea level.

Seems a bit slow but that's what I got on a 50 degree day with 40% humidity and 29.28 Pressure.
