Range Report Isn't 375yds enough for a ladder?

Just finished up with 2 ladders at 375 yds and I am stumped. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369782711.936475.jpg

ya I saw that but what troubles me is all the other ladders I have seen have much more verticle stringing between nodes.

Would you say 41.7 is a good choice for the AMAX

I don't see the point of ladder tests. I just load the max amount of powder that groups acceptably. (I'm looking for 0.50 MoA)

The max amount of powder is determined by when pressure signs start showing. At that point, you have the flattest possible trajectory, and if it groups well - DONE.

What caliber and powder are you testing?

I've never seen a good benefit to the ladder tests. With all these results so close I think it's a good thing. Gives a lot of room wiggle room. I'd focus on the groups from here.

Based on charge weights and the drop in elevation in the 43.2-43.8 range, I'm going to assume Remington 260(and the word "core lokt" on one of the targets;)). I see some results there, assuming no human factor. I'd say your sweet spot is the 42.6-42.9 range.
I just shot some charges out of my Remington 260(Krieger 8.5 twist-freebore .060 over saami spec), just breaking the barrel in, but i did load different charges under 140 amax it appears that I'll want to work on 42.9-43.5gr of h4350. I started to have heavy bolt lift at 43.8 and very erratic vertical stringing with 44.1. I'll assume i can put just a tad more powder in mine before pressure signs, given the longer freebore. I loaded 2.850 for a .015 jump to the lands. The amax's definitely like a little jump.

It's 260 rem using H4350. I used to do OCW test but the ladder uses less rounds to achieve the same goal. My last two rifles I did the ladder with we're easy to see clear results.

I was editing while you were typing, lol
What was your oal?
In that pic i posted my groups started tightening up at 42.9(upper right, .391 MOA even with the called flier- 4 shots were .185) and stayed reasonably tight for 43.2 (upper left) and 43.5(9o'clock).
Fwiw, the two 12o'clock groups were 43.5 also and 43.8 but loaded to the lands at 2.865. Notice the vertical stringing yet again. So make sure you've got a decent jump - .015-.025...

I have an LRP in .260rem that loves 44.5gr of H4350 with a 142gr SMK loaded .020 off the lands but this rifle seems harder to find the right load for.

Was editing again!
What barrel are you running that your having a hard time with? Every barrel/chamber is going to be different. Other than slightly heavy bolt lift I'm still not showing pressure on the brass at 44.1 but it's not worth it to me to go over book to find another node. I'll be happy with 42.9-43.8 do long as mv stays consistent...

I never used the AMAX because the SMKs shot great in the LRP but since I could not get them to group in this rifle I bought them to try.
