I don't know why Savage feels they need to put their logo on the bolt, it looks pretty ugly. What is the best way to remove it from the bolt (besides replacing it with another type of rifle)?

I agree. I was thinking about having it painted by a quality smith, bead blasted, fluted etc....

My old 12 bvss-s is on it's third barrel and logo is gone. Have no idea about rd count, north of 10k. My 10 tactical actions tend to wear off in strips. Might try 0000 steel wool. The "caution match trigger blah blah blah" warning on target actions are my pet peeve

This was a problem of mine as well so my solution was to polish the receiver along with the bolt, recoil lug, and barrel nut with 200, 600 grit sand paper then bead blast the whole assembly. What turned out was pretty nice. A nice satin finish on the stainless and I didn't have the stupid caution on the side of my rifle.

I'm going to send the bolt over to Keith at Phoenix Custom Rifles to get it cerakoted desert tan.

Excellent choice. They do awesome work. With the bolt, they kinda infuse it with lubricant fresh out of the oven for better anti friction properties. While you're at it, have them put a bolt handle on for you? They did my barreled action in fde:

I would sell it and get a PTG fluted bolt body for about $90. You might get $35 for the Savage bolt?

Very nice. I have a bolt handle on there already.

I received my bolt back from Phoenix Custom Rifles. They did an awesome job. The turnaround time was fast.

The Ceracote tan is different than the Krylon tan, but still looks good, way better than that stupid logo.
